Leonard says he, Hearns would KO Mayweather, Pacquiao

last 10 years? Mosley if he could get on the inside, but he would be hit with the right too much like Vernon Forrest. Trinidad would have been tough . although that is over 10 years ago. Oscar still would have been tough for Hearns. Sometimes the guys tough for Hearns were not the top guys but the style guys like Barkley. If a guy boxed Hearns he seemed to be quicker and his jab won the fight if he fought smart. But he did like to go for a knockout, which made him open to punches. Tommy sometimes created his own mistakes at times.

 

That fight does seem like yesterday. I always thought Davey Pearl stopped the fight at the perfect time. Had he let the fight go on and Tommy knocked down and out I don't think Hearns would have had the long career he did later. Tommy could dispute the stoppage (which I thought was a good stoppage) and move on and improve and argue how he could have continued. Ray proved a lot that night. Complete fighter at that point. Ray was different . I don't think any other fighter could have fought only 2 years from Benitez to Hearns or Finch and retired and be seen as a great as high in the ranking as Leonard. But the guys he beat were all greats. He was lucky to have all of them Benitez,Duran,Hearns right there for him to fight. Hearns,Duran,Hagler and even Benitez had to fight years and years to get recognition. Hearns got it after 11 years and beating Virgil Hill.

 

It is a interesting thing to think about. I think Hearns and Leonard would probably stop Pacman, but his heart and skill and speed mean as long as he is in there he is giving a harder fight to both and has a chance to always win more than Mayweather, who would be sitting back trying to land counter lefts and sucker Tommy and Ray into fighting his fight. Mayweather would probably go 12. Hearns/Mayweather might not be a great fight. Sort of like Benitez/Hearns. Each guy trying to counterpunch and Hearns using his jab to win the rounds. It would not work for Mayweather. Manny? He is great. He is the kind of fighter who finds ways to win when you don't think he can. I could never count him out, but I think Ray and Tommy are big and punch hard and were fast. Just a lot of Manny to overcome. It is odd. I think Manny would be more than likely stopped with Ray and Tommy, but he would also have a chance to win more than Mayweather.

 

:deal he is a great smaller fighter to win a title at a higher weight....such as basilio, Leonard(never great at 160), etc...just cause you were great at one weight dont mean you will be at another....i hope someone makes a new thread and have Manny and Pacquaio against guys 135 down!!!:bbb

 

Mosley had a solid chin, great speed and great power. If Tommy opened up and went for the KO, especially if he got reckless then Shane would definitely have a chance. Shane was always at his best against brawlers. If Tommy boxed him for 12 rounds, I don't see how Shane could win bar a lucky punch.

I'm not so sure that Barkley was a real stylistic nightmare for Hearns, I just think that Iran caught him with a lucky punch, when Tommy was getting careless and going for the KO. If Tommy had continued to pick his punches, attack him from the outside, use that left hook to the body to set up the right hand, I'm sure he would have stopped Barkley at some point later on in '88. He got careless, and got caught flush on the chin by a big shot, he could have avoided it. In '92, Hearns wasn't the same fighter, his legs had gone, I don't really hold that loss against him.

Oscar was always a boxer first, I see Tommy beating him behind the jab in a decision.

Hearns-Trinidad would be a fun fight! Trinidad had a huge left hook! Both could be knocked down and out, I would pick Hearns to land his right hand first! Once Tommy lands that right hand a few times with power, Trinidad will be in all sorts of trouble, and get stopped not long after.

Pacquiao would get knocked out by Sugar, Hearns or Floyd. Sugar and Hearns take Pacquiao out early. Floyd stops Pacquiao mid to late rounds. Pacs aggression or lack thereof gets him killed.

If they could've fought, betting money says that Floyd gets out boxed by both, but Hearns would be vulnerable against Floyd whose defense and body shots would trouble Hearns. Floyd imo would have a chance to knock Tommy out. Tommys chin is totally suspect.

But IMO, Hearn's "suspect" chin is a non factor against a Smaller Mayweather.

Tommy would ravage Floyd & outbox him aswell.

 

Whats Floyd Mayweather going to do when a fighter can match his athletic ability and agility, and also has above average ring IQ..? Its down to weapons then..? and lets face it, Floyd Mayweathers lacks some serious weapons, he's got plenty of bullets..? But Ray Leonard and Hearns..? they had bombs.

p4p not so sure about this one. floyd same size as hearns may outbox him. pacquiao 6'2 may KO hearns and sugar.

 

Floyd is a defensive wizard, and I know that Floyd would have his work cut out though to beat Hearns. But every time Hearns had a chance to achieve legendary greatness even though he is great, he failed miserably.

Being a defensive wizard is not enough to beat Hearns or Ray Leonard.

You need fire power and weapons, and Floyd Mayweather's weapons are not devastating enough............POT SHOTS DON'T STOP LEGENDS!

 

At 140 pounds, Pac would win against Hearn and Leonard.
