its not me Tigeredge, honest. People can't bring themselves to admit the superiority of Norris then they take it out on me instead.

norris deserved this win. people disregard this as a shot and old leonard but it wasnt like he was THAT far gone. he was still there and beating decent comp.

just becuase it was at the end of his career doesnt mean he was shto to pieces....leonard-comacho now that is shot to pieces.
it was clear his reflexes wernt there...but that doesnt mean he was gone. hell hopkins lost his handspeed and reflexes and still is/was a elite countepruncher.

the reason i feel why norris was chosen as leonards opponant was becuase of norris's tko loss to julian jackson and his weak title defence (at the time). also 26-3 is not a great record to choose from when there were other world champions with better records and better reputations, so it wasnt becuase norris was a dangerous opponant that leonard was trying to vanquish.

 

i agree with vantagewest 100%. Ray was just outdueled by a tough determined warrior and make no mistake-Terry Norris is a warrior! He comes to fight.

I also wouldn't make too much of his won loss record either. because of his eagerness to continue, he would often get dq'd. This nearly happened with Leonard if you recall, Terry was just overanxious.

And Leonard was not shot. Look at him early in the fight and you will see I am right. IMO, Ray was winning the second round with his rough house tactics.

You might be asking "why is Ray going after him like that?"

Because Terry was so fast overall, he knew he had no chance trying to box him.

Consider: this would be like you or me trying to box someone like Roy Jones. We'd get killed! So Ray with his great boxing brain, knew he had to take it to Norris. The only problem was he got tagged and his chin couldn't hold up.

I'm sorry but that's how it is in life-we can't win them all.

Listen, it is much tougher to win fights while trying to recover from a blow like that. Ray was doing fine up to that point but then he got tagged again round 3. THis is just too much for most people to handle.

Terry Norris is a very dangerous opponent with his combination of power and blazing hand speed. Look at all the other foes like Mugabi and Gatti that couldn't take the left hook counter of Terry Norris. They didnt even get past the first round

I haven't seen any interviews on his opinion on Norris. Maybe he doesn't want to bring it up but he should.

 

but surely being such a great fighter he could overcome his disadvantages and become a counter puncher to catch norris when he came in with combo's

im not dissing ray leonard im just saying that terry norris was a terrible pick of opponants to choose from.

leonard did win the first round pretty decisivly then terry took over, by not doing what hagler was doing by jabbing in and waiting on the outside to catch him. terry just lets his hands go.you got to remember terry norris is not a joke he was a top p4p for his short career. and he did beat a good but not the best ray leonard.

terry norris looked to be a good but beatable opponant on paper and sadly he was a pandorras box.

im sure leonard could of taken a title somwhere from the 4 main sanctioning body's anywhere from 154 to 168. and if that was true that means this was a good solid win for leonard.
