Over 12 or 15 rounds I'm picking Sugar Ray, does he stop DLH who was only stopped once, when old and drained vs a peak pacman. On the other side of the coin does Oscar have what it takes to pull off an upset?

They are actually quite similar and Oscar was compared to Leonard early in his carreer. Not a huge gap between them skillwise, but Leonard did most things a little better and he knew how to dig deep and win when the doing got tough. Leonard by decision.

Leonard by decision. This could be a tighter than expected affair in the beginning, since Oscar's lead hand is in front to wage most of the war with Leonard's weaker hand.

I expect Leonard to sweep almost all the late rounds, though. In intense matches Oscar was always a little twitchy, and it made him slow down for the late rounds.

Leonard was a real fifteen round fighter and warred with Benitez, Duran and Tommy Hearns down the stretch. He showed no such flaw and won the last third aginst all of them.

Prime Leonard would outbox Oscar with his advantage in hand speed and foot movement.

Agreed. In my mind, with the exception of the original Sugar,I'd start Leonard as favourite against any welter in history.

Solid matchup here:D, Both these guy's had a lot in common, Olympic hero's and they were the shot callers of their times, Leonard of 70-80s, Oscar 90s -00s, and they were identical in size..

This fight is up to Leonard if he fights Oscar the way he did Duran in Montreal, toe to toe, just like street brawling i favor Oscar who had a slightly better chin, he was stopped only once by Hopkins, BUT IT WAS A BODYSHOT, the Paq fight he more or less stopped himself by quitting, because his Heart was no longer into fighting..

If Leonard chooses to box, stick and move he wins a decision, he had better stamina than Oscar, but the fight depends more on Sugar than Oscar...

I like Oscar but Ray was better in pretty much every way. Faster, better two handed power, better conditioned, longer reach, simply better.

Can't see how Oscar would get close. He can't out box or out fight Leonard.

    Leonard on points most likely.
