Dont believe the crybabies, Leonard won 115-113. Hagler was NOT effective, gave up early rounds, and when Hagler had Leonard on the ropes, he did little.
Better question would be- who would have won in a rematch?? Leonard made noises about aacepting a rematch in 1990 but Hagler told him to take a hike.
115-113 Leonard Hagler started slow and gave away some of the early rounds, by the time he gained momentum it was not enough. Kind of like B-Hops/Taylor but a clear close win for SRL.
I was there and it was very close. It could have gone 115-113 for either guy or 114-114. When I watched the broadcast I had it 7-5 Hagler but I must admit to being partial to Hagler. Marvin was past his prime and really seemed to get old over night in that fight. :smoke :smoke
Leonard 7-5. Hagler slipped just enough that he couldnt finish Sugar Ray, And he got spanked in terms of boxing early. I really think starting the fight orthodox lost it for Hagler. Leonard built a lead he hung on to.
