Leonard vs Hagler Who wins the Rematch?

A rematch could have gone either way as ray proved he could take haglers bombs 1st time around & would be in even better condition this time, problem is, hagler would fight southpaw the entire fight aswell as applying pressure from the start, tough 1, I`ll go with leonard by majority decision as I felt he won close but clear last time.

Hagler won the first match. I see no reason why he wouldn't win the rematch. He would probably be hungrier coming in as the challenger, especially after being victimized by an example of some of the worst judging in the history of boxing. Hopefully he would knock Leonard out so he wouldn't have to leave it to the judges, who had a history of being unkind to Marvin (he beat both Antuofermo and Duran by wide margins, but the judges saw things differently). The more immediate the rematch the better, since Hagler had been out of the ring a long time prior to Leonard match. When you start getting up in years, long layoffs have a greater impact. Building on his training from the first fight, he maybe would be more fierce the second around. Hagler was always better in rematches, so I have little doubt he would repreat his win over Leonard.

Yeah, if there was ever any doubt that Red is also an uncle of the Neighbour Boys (aka "the glitch") then that is clearly removed now.

 

For a solid year before the Hagler fight, Leonard trained and was conducting refereed 12 round bouts with 10 ounce gloves and without headgear. Leonard fought hundreds of rounds with top middleweights during that year. He was far less rusty than Hagler was.

Leonard wouldn't be able to reach that emotional and physical level again, while Hagler would be fired up for revenge. Hagler by Unanimous Decision.

 

The key difference is that Hagler wouldn't fight orthodox the first 2 rounds, thus giving those 2 rounds away

Also I agree with the notion that Hagler would have the edge in motivation

Therefore, Hagler takes a close but clear UD

For the record, I had Leonard winning the first fight by a point

Really though, like someone else said, this fight should have happened in 1982 or 1983 - that would have been the ideal time
I think Hagler would have won in 82 or 83 by decision, or had a decent chance to KO/TKO Leonard
