One of the fun things about getting new fights into my collection is catching up on stuff I missed the first time around. There was quite a period there where I didn't follow the sport too closely, especially the domestic scene, so I always like getting local cards when I'm trading.

As I usually do when I get some new stuff, I catalogue it to my spreadsheet and am on boxrec getting the details which of course can never really give you all the details of a fight unless you've actually seen it. And sometimes I get so much new stuf in I only have time for a quick flick through a fight to make sure its in good condition etc that I don't even have the time to kick back and watch the new fights I've received.

Luckily for me, was on the phone to a mate this night and was running through my recent additions when I mentioned I had this fight. I honestly had not much idea about either of the guys. The voice down the other end of the line when he heard I had this fight immediately stopped me and said "Have you watched that one yet?"

"Nah, you know me mate, have heaps more to get through, is it any good?"

    "It's definitely, ah, entertaining."

He left it at that so intrigued, I took some time out from the recent arrivals and popped in into the dvd player for a quick look.

And although not really a classic, I'd say it is interesting.

    Enjoy

PS The rematch is also up on youtube.

This was pulled from youtube a while ago, my guess is some parties involved didnt like how the clip portrayed them with regards to the incident that took place, many thanks for putting it back up!

In that case it may only be up for a short while, wasn't meant to offend anybody, its funny comparing it to the Elomar-Kickett fight for a different reaction to that.

    They were a shockers.

For a week before the first one, there were plea's for someone like Vocale or Moore to referee the fight because everyone knew it was gunna be a flat out ****en brawl ALA Bronco Johnson V Alf Sands.

I couldn't believe it when Cyril Cairns stepped through the ropes.

When the **** his the fan, he was useless.
There were blokes in the ring with the clock still ticking. No DQ's
The only time the rule book came into play is when one of the judges held in front of his face,, for protection.

There was little learnt because the retun was just as ****en stupid:lol::lol::lol:

    Intresting watching that again,

Elomar should have been DQ as his corner jumped on the ring apron and grabbed Powell before the ref called the fight off. Strange that one.

Once the fight has stoped anyone throwing punches or assaulting persons is liable under the crimes act and should face criminal charges that come with the crimes they have committed. Its no longer boxing once the fight has stoped and becomes a common assault.

Whats odd about all of this is these guys didnt get punished, they got rewarded with a rematch, yeah its good for the paying fans watching but bad for boxing. someone should have been fined, suspended or charged with assault. It occur's again but this time even worse with the Kickett fight and please correct me if im mistaken but its the same party involved as it was with the Powell fight?

    Anyone look familar?

Watch from the 2.40 mark onwards. Anyone look familar enticing the crowd in a similar fashion to the Kickett fight? (incase you dont see it, look for the guy sticking his finger up to the crowd)

Elomars corner enticed that one, it is funny because the moment the crowd turns on them they run for the hills. Around the same time the guy throws the chair from the crowd into the ring someone from the crowd yells "Come on ya ****ing coward, get out now"

Elomar and his people are lucky that they made it back to the change rooms that night, notice the crowd isnt throwing anything at Kickett, its all directed to Elmoars peoples way, Billy Hussein has left the ring and you will notice Elomar is still there, he is actually trying to call people up from the crowd to fight him, the same ones who are throwing chairs at him.

He should have been stripped of the titles that night, you cant entice a crowd and be involved and get off it scott free can you? well in this country it would appear so. If this was to occur in USA all these guys would have been dragged over the coals.

Elmoar never defended the titles after the win in 2008, he fought again in 2010, and fights this guy for his next fight http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=324246&cat=boxer

He was stripped of the titles because he wouldnt defend them. He got lucky with Kickett and ran with it, literally lol

I remember watching it live a couple years back on Fox sports Friday night fights and I had no doubt in my mind that leb was dead from the flying chair attack. Throws him out the ring with such force!! Gotta love it :happy
