Unbeaten super middleweight Leroy Brown is now training with Johnny Lewis at Sydney Uni - see article below: from The Narooma News: Narooma Booma, BadBoy Leroy Brown last week started training with Master boxing trainer Johnny Lewis at the Sydney University Boxing Gym. Lewis has trained five world champions including the greats Kostya Tszyu, Jeff Fenech and Jeff Harding and is regarded by many as Australias greatest boxing trainer. Three weeks ago Brown completed full time study of a level 4 Fitness Leader course, and is now qualified to teach fitness in the fitness industry. Lewis has organised for Brown to teach his own classes and take on personal training clients and use the universities facilities, which is a huge help. The new career qualification will allow Brown flexible working hours, as Lewiss training hours for the Pro Boxers starts at 9.30am. Brown is now at 85kgs, and will return to his natural fighting weight of 72kg over the next two months. Lewis has him scheduled to start sparring in two weeks time, and I am looking to match him in his first return fight late June. There has been a challenge for Brown to fight Omar Shaik in August in Queensland on FoxSports TV. Omar beat Brown by one point for the gold medal at the Australian Amateur Championships, but was surrounded by controversy after the fight as he had refused a drug test prior to the Gold medal win due to religious beliefs. Subsequently, he received a two year banning, and Brown went to the World Championships due to his courageous effort against the gold medallist. The fight was only offered as a six rounder, so I have counter offered with a deal over 10 rounds here in Narooma for the World Youth Middleweight Title. The counter offer has been rejected, but his management have indicated they would travel to Narooma to fight Brown. I am working on it. This is a fight I would love to bring to Narooma later this year! On the home front, I will stay in Sydney with Leroy for the next few weeks until he starts sparring, then return to put some of our new young guns in for their first fights. Spearsy and Frank have been doing a sensational job with the boys, and every time I return, the boys have improved.
Ok sorry if I was wrong - every time Ziggy has crapper on about him he goes on about him being the ducks nuts of managers, never mentioned him training him. Well I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again (quite soon if I listen to my wife!)
