LeRoy Green became a sparring partner for hire, as his professional career was going nowhere as a 'trial-horse'. He was one of those 'mob-connected' fighters, whose contract was always sold from one 'small-time connected guy' to another. First in Kansas City, then to New York, then back to Kansas City, then to Minnesota, then back to Kansas City, then back to New York, then to Denver, then back to Chicago. In May 1964, his 10-year contract expired. He then hooked up with Archie Pirolli, Sonny Liston's camp manager. He did set some kind of record, by going 120+ Rounds with Sonny Liston in 1964, in Denver. And he was never floored.
