Can't believe this guy is 30 already....honestly can't remember anyone he's fought other than Gongora, what a waste of a career.
16 fights in 9 and a half years, 4 of those were in the first 7 months of his career. Seriously, wtf?
This seems to be the pattern of many of these domestic fighters nowadays. I can only imagine their focus is on another career to provide or bad luck? Injuries, lack of promoter input, contract issues etc
I'm guessing boxing was just a hobby for him that he was pretty good at, nobody serious about it is this inactive. I've seen some fighters come out with "nobody wants to fight me" which I often find hard to believe, I know of one boxer, through people associated with him, who spun this one when really he was just ducking anyone and everyone better than him or considered on par with him unless he was offered stupid money.
Take a look at multiple British fighters who get to around British and above level. They seem to be fighting once a year now, it's crazy.
All waiting/expecting a cash out fight or an easy shot at a World Title, really depressing for the sport. I know it's prize fighting but you have to actually fight to win prizes.
So many fighters are inactive nowadays due to how top heavy boxing paydays are. Why bother staying active for peanuts when you can sit on a ranking and fish for one fight that will make you more money than your last eight fights combined?
Because you end up like Lerrone - fighting TBA four days out for peanuts. He was ranked number 5 168lb in the world by TBRB for a bit.
I'd quite like to see Lerrone wobbled by some cherry pick TBA, that would be a nice lesson for him. The problem for a lot of these guys is that nobody knows who they are or they've been forgotten about. I can't get behind inactive fighters so if he's wobbling around like some drunk in a dancehall on Saturday hopefully that will either be the end of him or he'll actually wake up, get the fights in and give it one last push.
Richards career definitely needs to pick up quickly. He's a talented fighter so it's a waste if it does peter out.
I actually get sad when I think about Lerrone Richards. What a waste of talent ! It is also part of the story that he doesn´t have the psyche or the right mentality for professional boxing.
