An update on the Les Darcy Grave Restoration that's been under way (raising funds) for near on 12 months. The plagues have all been manufactured and will be placed on top of a newly positioned second step that leads onto the marble platform that holds the bronze Darcy Statue. 55 plaques in total were sold to generate close to $12,000. With the entire restoration fund requiring in excess of $55,000, it was felt some serious effort was still necessary to complete the restoration task. Thankfully a kindly gentleman based in the USA, originally of Maitland, has donated some welcomed $$$ to close the deal on the funds needed. :happy Maitland, Saturday, June 28, 2010 will be the day dedicated to the unveiling of the newly decorated Darcy Statue, adorned with all 55 mentioned plaques. Anyone with a sense of pride in the Darcy story should attend and enjoy the day.
ill be there, but you never sent me the DVDs for the tribute vid , along with details about donating =/ but i will attend Les Darcy For Ever!
There's a patern just recently of these excellent commemorative efforts, and there are obviously some very good people working hard behind the scenes making them happen, including I suspect yourself Flamengo. Well done everyone involved. Off topic a tad: Heard recently a nice story involving Frank 'The Tank' Ropis and a national title belt. Apparently Frank wasn't presented with a belt after winning the title. But some good soul organised a belt for him. The belt went missing for some years, but has been found and represented to Frank.
