Lesnar was a physical beast, not a super skilled wrestler. Goes to show that superior sheer physciality can overcome way superior technique, which is contrary to lots of martial art cliches and mantras.....the opposite can be true as well of course. Even as an NCAA champ, he is nowhere near elite level wrestling circles.

of course he is good...in a general MMA sense. In the college context as well. But he isn`t international level. An NCAA championship is prestigious, but doesn`t make you world level, let alone olympic level which is the highest standard for pure wrestling. Brock gets wrecked in international wrestling. Hell, super old, way overweighed and out muscled Randy kinda made Brock look like an average dude for a short while. His physical advantages played a huge role in his perceived wrestling talents. Good but not great in a worldwide pro sport or international competetion sense.

Lesnar was a decent wrestler in the body of a freak. He could blow through power doubles because physically he did so with so much power that it was next to impossible to stop. These physical advantages were for not against Overeem. Lesnar would have been better off going after that suspect gastank of Overeem instead of trying to beat him outright.
