How does Brock have a glass jaw? He's never been KOed even when he fought Shane Carwin. He cannot take a punch though, he just turtles up and runs. This content is protected This content is protected Overeem TKO1.
Lesnar's punch resistance is fine. What is not is his guard. Its beyond believable that somebody at this level had such an amateurish response to being on their back. That gave Carwin and Velasquez the time and space to really punish him without risking being tied up. To me this fight is easy to analyze, hard to predict. Overeem is a better technical striker than Carwin/Velasquez but he doesn't have the wrestling credentials. Against both Carwin and Velasquez, Lesnar was able to get a shot in before be caught by a punch. The problem was that both had enough wrestling ability to stay standing long enough (either by blocking the initial takedown or getting back up) to hurt Brock. Can Overeem do the same? May gut is no which is why I'm picking Lesnar but I'm by no means certain. There's other factors to the fight to consider. How healthy is Lesnar? He looks back to his old self and ****ing gigantic which has to be a positive sign. Is Overeem too much of a counterpuncher to push the action as Carwin did? If so like Velasquez he may find himself up against the cage without Cain's ability to thrive in such a tight spot. Can Overeem submit Lesnar? Lesnar's never been put in a choke in his entire career and Overeem has a sneaky guillotine. Could he catch an expose neck of Lesnar on the way down?
Very good post. :good And that sums it up right there. :yep If Brock really is healthy, then we will see a fired-up Brock. If he honestly is in better physical condition than he's been in for years, then Overeem could well be in trouble because Brock is freakishly strong and almost unstoppable with his early takedowns. But yeah, Overeem has by far the better fighting pedigree. If Brock can't rush him against the cage and throw him down, then that musclebound hillbilly is going to find himself in a world of **** pretty quickly. But if Brock throws somebody on their back and manages to get a few hammerfists on them early, that spells trouble for anybody. Overeem is no exception. :hat
A.D.C.C. European Trials Champion. While impressive, it's kind of like saying you're one of the best wrestlers in England. Doesn't really mean much relative to the rest of the world. What you're saying is hyperbole at best.
People can say this and that and talk bout "credentials" but it comes down to who can impose their gamepan the most. the question really is can brock get overeem off his feet before he get's starched? I think it's a possibility but can he keep him there and do any damage is another question. I look forward to this fight for sure....
Lesnar seemingly has good punch resistance, his problem is that he's scared to take punches so he reacts horribly to them and is easy to get the better of with as he turtles up and offers no reasonable defence. Is Lesnar shoots and succeeds in not getting kneed in the face I see The Reem being too cumbersome to pull of any jits and thwart Lesnars top control and take his g'n'p. Lesnar TKO1 Overeem. However, If Overeem is strong enough and does manage to use some TDD to get enough on Lesnar to throw him off and attack, Lesnar could **** himself and get pounded out. However, even this kind of attempt would be enough to gas The Reem out so Lesnar could feasibly tire him out in the next stanza. Very hard fight to predict. I really want The Reem to annihilate Lesnar, but can see Lesnar being too much of a force for him.
Lesnar hasn't exactly a glass jaw. He just struggles to deal with taking punches to the face and doesn't know how to react to them. I don't see Overeem running over Lesnar with one punch. If Overeem stops Lessnar it'll be from a barrage of punches on top of Lesnar.
