    OK, here's the deal.

    These two are quite evenly matched. PW was caught off-guard by Sergio's quickness in the first one and was countered to death. He'll make some adjustments.

    PW's workrate is judge-friendly. That is, he wins rounds that he actually loses, purely on workrate.

    So Martinez has an uphill struggle winning a decision against a guy who judges love because of his output.

    conclusion: roughly 70% chance PW wins a close decision.

    (Note also, however: PW is fighting a tendency for judges to "even things up" due to the perception that Sergio got a bad deal in the first fight. There might also be some desire for a trilogy, which might lead judges to give close rounds to SM this time).

    Williams is a 'what you see is what you get' type of fighter. We've all seen him many times already. He doesn't make adjustments.

    how would you characterize his second fight against Quintana?

    Arguably to get a first round KO after losing a decision is an adjustment, no?

    I was referring to between-fight adjustments.

    Fair enough.

    Still, that was ONE fight, against a just good fighter. Martinez is no Quintana. And he has proved he can make adjustments DURING fights.

    Is the thread title reverse psychology? Maybe PW did his homework, analyzed Martinez's weaknesses and will bring a great game plan to beat him.:think Nahh. SM outboxes him, probably easier than last tiime.

    Williams doesnt make adjustments but he does follow a gameplan. The gameplan for this fight will likely be "body body body" since all George Peterson could do after every round was stress about working on Martinez's body.

    Did you see those fights? Hardly any of them went for Martinez's body.

    Cintron kept waiting too long to look for that one big shot to land but never got it.
    Williams fought a dumb gameplan and was solely relying on workrate to win.
    Pavlik is too in love with his power and was easily tempted to headhunt whenever Martinez lays his hands low.

    If the fight doesnt go quite as planned for williams he can always rely on the corrupt biased american judges to give him a helping hand, the guy who scored the fight 119 - 110 to williams the last time would be great but im sure you could swap in any number of others and get the job done as well, add to his catchweight demand and im sure williams is pretty happy with the setup, must give him a lot of confidence im sure
