Yeah, feels a bit rough to pick on Fury specifically, because most of boxing works this way, but he’s the perfect example. Wanted to fight Wilder, Chisora, Whyte, Ngannou = fights get made easy Didn’t want to fight Joshua 3-4 years ago and doesn’t really want to fight Usyk now = fights don’t get made or are an absolute ball ache to get over the line. Now, AJ and Wilder both see fighting each other as too big of a risk, so they don’t really want to until they can rinse the Saudis for enough cash that the fight becomes worth the gamble.
Looks like an excellent card imo with Wilder/Parker peaking my intrigue most I think. Parker would arguably be Wilder's best win (or 2nd best at worst) and could be close with Wilder's age and inactivity. Not good for anyone desperate for the Joshua/Wilder fight though as there's a good chance at least one of them will lose (maybe both?!) and even if they do both win I see them aiming for title shots rather than a fight with each other. Hrgovic's rumoured opponent looks a touch disappointing though as does Opetaia's. Not sure how Lyndon Arthur is getting a title shot either.
Light Heavyweight is top heavy strong at the top of the rankings, But it's not stacked at all when it comes to outside of the top 5. So you have to expect weak defences in that division. Look on boxrec you have fighters ranked highly like 41 year old Jean Pascal, Robin Krasniqi, Lerrone Richards, Willy Hutchinson and other average and unknown fighters. And prospects with single digit wins are already in the top 30.
Yeah fair point. I just don't rate Arthur at all and don't see what he's done since losing his rematch with Yarde to earn a shot.
i wish they would cut the card in half. nobody cares about Bivol v sleepwalkin’ Lyndon Arthur or Hrgovic v the youtube autodidact. with all the high school musical garbage we’re looking at a 3am finish
