Pound for Pound rankings only exist to make small guys feel better about themselves. If they were great fighters, they'd move up in weight. How can you explain Hopkins is three inches taller than Tyson and Tua? Convince me that the statement above is totally ignorant. Shoot.
I dont know what your getting at, but pound for pound isnt really only for smaller guys, its more to distinquish the best most skilled fighter of all of boxing thus the title pound for pound. I think a heavyweight can be pound for pound the best.
Name me one small guy that could beat a prime George Foreman for example, say less than 175 pounds. I am 99% sure you won't be able to name one. That's the reason p4p was "invented".
There's not too many legitimate heavyweights that could beat a prime George Foreman much less any one below his weight.
And... Foreman would beat most guys that much smaller than him because they're that much smaller than him, not because he's a better fighter, just a bigger one. I don't know what your point is.
The term "pound for pound" originally came into use to describe things like Ray Robinson's skills, or later on, Arguello's right hand. Today it is over used, and often misused.
:huh DO you mean there should be no weight classes? Only height classes? SO, if Hopkins was great, he would go for KLitschko? :huh
Are you joking? Are you telling me that Valuev is better in the skills department than Marquez or Mayweather? He's bigger than both and could easily knock them out. Since they cant move up to the heavyweight division, is Valuev better than them? He can beat them only because he's bigger. If they were the same size, he'd stand no chance.
