    He was rated very highly by most before the Hatton fight but the inconsistancy in his refereeing for the Hatton/May fight and only months later the Calzaghe/Hopkins fight is shocking.

    Wouldn't let a clinch go before splitting it up for the Hatton fight but let Hopkins get away with his dirty holding tactics.

    That must be the fight I was thinking about. How the hell can you ref so differently, in two fights so close together? :-:)patsch

    He's a **** of a man, as soon as a ref gets a catchphrase it's time to go. For me the Hatton/Mayweather fight was bad enough but the straw that broke the camels back was without doubt the Soto-Lorenzo fight ... that was a complete disgrace and I wouldn't let the senile old ******* back in a ring after that one.

    I have to agree with this. Joe Cortez is the worst referee in boxing and Bayless is the best.

    Sick how he gives instruction in spanish when it is in AMERICA. LIMPEW!! Bs litzua doesn't know what he is talking about. He should just yell, remember i am fair but i am firm every time he seperates the two.
