To break down his career, he fought Abraham after he was already exposed by Dirrell and Froch. Froch is a 34 year old man who is a limited athlete. He had a good win against Kessler but, in reality, what quality guys has Kessler beaten? The guy couldn't even knock out Allen Greene who was KO'd by Glen Johnson. A skilled offensive fighter with pop takes him out in his career.
Take your Anti-Irish statements and shove em' up your ass. "Irish" Andre Ward is the slickest craftiest Irish-American in current boxing. There is no debate needed.
What? The Super 6 was bar none the greatest run of quality Boxer's being matched consecutively in our generation (of the top of my head). Ward has not only proven himself, so have Froch and Kessler.
At this point I will say that Ward is a true champion.Ward is the only fighter out of the super6 where you could see steady improvement from his first fight to his last. There wasnt wasnt a real champion in the whole lot but all of them were excellent contenders. They prepared Ward to be the champion that he is now. He is well rounded at this point and whatever type of fighter you put in there with him he should be able to adjust too. Thats the type of skills that a real champion should be able to bring to the table.Hes still has some minor things to work on but all and all the super 6 prepared him well.
I agree to a certain extent... Ward is missing that "eye popping" level of in-ring abilities that really excites fans. Probably due to his apparent lack if power. He's effective, he gets victories, but he fails to really amaze you. Nothing stands out except the wins. Like a SMW Tim Bradley.
he doesn't take chances thats for sure, he's very intelligent in the ring, he looks at it like a chess match. He will always have trouble selling tickets and making a name for himself.
I will jump on the Ward bandwagon when he beats other athletically gifted fighters who are A level talent as well. Beat Bute, Dawson, or Silakh, and I will be a believer. Ward is good, but to show that all around talent, he needs to beat some guys who have A level athleticism and talent as well. None of his Super 6 victims have A level talent in my opinion. Kessler, robotic stiff, slow. Abraham, one dimensional, slow offensively limited. Bika(replacement fight) still crude and somewhat wild. Froch, slow with no defense, and bad footwork. Bute gets crapped on for fighting Cans instead of real competition, but he would be the most athletically talented guy that Ward has faced so far in my opinion.
Too late. Take a look at the front page and see how many threads there are about Ward. He is the annointed one. The barriers are broken. POW!
It's not just the fact that he's beat these guys, it's the way he's beat them. He dominated all of them. Bika made him look like ****, but that's Bika. I've seen Ward struggle at times, and then he makes adjustments. Look at the variety he has, the all around skills, and try to tell me this guy isn't a complete fighter. The only thing he doesn't have is KO power, but when you're hitting guys clean and not getting hit back, well... that's great boxing is it not?
