It is definitely great boxing, but more geared towards being effective rather than being exciting. I don't know about you all, but I don't want to have to suffer with a future P4P #1 (as some are prediting) who bores the hell out of me.

I think he's great to watch. Not what i'd call boring at all.

Would you ever spend 60$ on an Andre Ward headlined PPV? It would be difficult for me to justify, but I understand him having some fans out there.

Agreed 100%. He won a tournament with the best of the best (outside of Bute, but he's a big question mark) at 168. He doesn't have huge punching power but clearly he hits hard/clean enough to get people's respect. That's a lot like what Floyd does now too. Ward showed himself to be a world class boxer who could dismantle his opponent no matter the style.

I agree with that and Bute is not a cakewalk for Ward.

Depends on who he's against and the undercard, so maybe.

I don't think he'd be a cakewalk. I bet Bute is a better match up than Froch was, but Ward still gets a nice wide UD in my opinion

In fairness though, the OP might have a point here. I could see Ward having a lot more difficulty if he moves up to light-heavyweight.

Depends on the opponent of course. But if it where on PPV then you'd think the opponent would be worthy. So, yes i would gladly pay that and more to watch him rep the sweet science.

Far from it. I'd actually favour Bute stylistically.

y'know its not that off point

Ward has looked really really good , but he's probably the only peak fighter in the tourney. It would be unfair to question his abilities too harshly becuase he did look good but Im not rushing to call him the king just yet.

    He has great skills tho

Yet you leave out one simple fact...................Ward and Frochs camps lobbied against Bute inclusion while allowing both Greene and Johnson to be replacements.

Bute was under contract with HBO when the contracts were being drawn up, but he QUICKLY signed with Showtime in an effort to be included during the second round, so much as accepting a loss in the double eliminator.

Ward's team, namely Dan G@@S3N, threatened to pull Ward, while Froch's team claimed the remaining participants should vote for who who should be included.

Somehow, someway, the Greatest SMW of ALL TIME was left out of a tournament in which his throne was being auctioned.:-(

Abraham, Froch, Bika and Kessler are all legitimate wins that should grant him the no 1 SMW. IMO Bika is the best win for both Ward and Bute.
PS: Skill-wise Bute is no 1.
