Yeah and there was some controversy (and he was up on the cards) but really he deserved it. He was pulling a Holyfield all night and not in a good way. Clottey had already opened a gash on Baldomir and lost two points for blatant headbutting. He did it again, so he lost. Really no cause for controversy.

Yeah he was DQ'd for headbutting. Clottey was winning, but Baldomir was competitive and likely frustrating Clottey.

Had Clottey finished the 11th, it probably would've been even on two cards going into the 12th, or Baldo up by 1 on two cards if Clottey lost two points for butts and the round.

Except that he technically did. :yep

Clottey does have the better resume overall though and was the better h2h welterweight. (would've beaten Margarito but for the injury, knocked out Cruz whom Baldomir fought to a draw, matched Baldomir's greatest W and beat Judah even more decisively, beat Corrales albeit faded, Mundine, Alvarez, Gutierrez, Silva...

Right, right..... it all comes back to Zab "I underachieve" Judah, hahaha. You'll never convince Void fans that Baldomir doesn't add to his "legacy" though.

Baldomir had accomplished more, as of when Mayweather wrested the lineal championship and green belt from him, than current lineal and unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury did before he fought Wlad.

    ...by FAR.

still remember the late manny steward lost for words when lampley mentioned Floyd said he was one of greats

manny steward "there is no way in the world srr would be hitting a guy like how Floyd is hitting baldimire and not go for the knockout instead Floyd is going for computer points"

"ring of booes sound of at the MGM after Floyds lack of killer instinct"

"Fans leaving before the 10th round"

Manny talked outta his ass sometimes. Baldomir has been knocked out just once in over two decades, by Canelo, and that includes even when he fought up at SMW. Closest he otherwise came was being retired on his stool by Veneno Rubio (a very powerful much bigger man, a career middleweight)

I've been thinking of making that exact thread all day. :good

People assume that would be laughable and easy automatic victory for Margarito due to having the faster hands, more pop, height and reach, and higher activity...but it might not be. His power won't mean squat. His work rate might, but Tata was capable of matching a pretty high pace for a guy that never looked in great nick, and his lighter shots could add up and score points with an edge in accuracy (which I feel he may have; don't be swayed by his incredibly low connect percentage on Mayweather as it would've been just as low for Margarito if he ever got in with him) to offset the fact that Margarito would stI'll be the busier man even if Baldomir rose to his challenge and upped his own volume.

Tata had even less business (and was even more disadvantaged on paper) defeating Judah, so... :conf

I think Baldomir possibly pulls it off especially at that time, Baldimir was a slightly better 'boxer' with a proven granted chin. Vs the top opponents Margarito got his ass kicked or stopped every time, Balodmir wasn't elite but was certainly capable enough to handle Margarito.
