Made the right decision. Didn't want to see the rematch against the bodybuilder. And will prolong his career by waiting for the Wbc shot. Can't see him picking up a title between both current champions though.
Lol journey man thing is harsh but my estimation plummeted after Chisora, should of won that fight in five rounds imo.
I think he wants the money first and foremost; the belts are secondary and a means to command more of the first. I can't say I blame him considering how narrow any boxer's window in the sport is, but he's gone about it in a terrible way, burning bridges and generally looking like an ungrateful and greedy ass. He's exciting though, and genuinely world class, so there should be opportunities awaiting him in the near future if he keeps on winning.
The thing is, there's now no guarantee he'll get one. There's a lot of fighters on their way up, a lot of names an a lot of unbeatens. Dubois, Joyce, Kownacki, Ajagba ect all will be looking to position themselves for a title shot thus he'll probably have to face a killer in between Wilder/Joshua and risks a loss. The fact is he gave up a shot and a huge payday foolishly.
I don't know mate. Maybe, maybe not. He may not be confident in beating Joshua, but he may be confident to beat the lesser guys. There's no way Frank Warren or Eddie Hearn would put Dubois or Joyce in with him at this stage. They're building those guys up very carefully.
Yeah you're right not at this stage, but like I said, if Wilder and Joshua fight (which it's looking like they will) they will also fight an immediate rematch so that puts the title scene out until late next year at least. By that time these guys on the way up will be looking towards a title shot and for me, an unbeaten record is an easier sell to the public. It's obviously all speculation however if Wilder signs with DAZN then it starts to look like reality.
Whyte took a calculated risk, which may or may not payoff. If Joshua and Wilder fight this year, it's almost certain that the winner will be forced to relinquish a belt ahead of the rematch. Whyte in that case would be well positioned if the WBO or WBC belts are freed up. Grab a belt, and his value for the AJ fight triples.
In fairness, Joshua was definitely going to kick his ass. He can make that pay day up by fighting two or three "contenders" like Hughie Fury, David Price, Gorman, Chisora III, etc. He also could end up a mandatory for the WBC belt or maybe get a fight with Tyson Fury.
This content is protected This travesty has just popped up on my reccomended. Are they ****ing completely delusional? He turned down a free shot at Joshua, at Wembley for £4million, yet somehow Dillian Whyte is the victim that's being frozen out. He's pushed himself into a corner in which he will now have to face and beat a young up and coming lion if he wants to secure a shot at Wilder or Joshua. Even then nothing is certain. Sorry Dillian, but you miss %100 of the shots you don't take. No playing the victim or putting out attention seeking documentaries is going to change that.
He will be in dire straights if this PPV bombs because he will be back to headlining the O2 like Dave Allen for the same money.. The AJ fight probs will still happen but he will be fighting for far less money than was offered for the April fight... Yes it was a dumb move knocking back the AJ money but Whyte for some reason feels he is some sort of equivalent star (bit like Wilder) and it will be interesting to see what happens when there is a nobody on the other end as opposed to Chisora, Parker and AJ.. Personally I don't even think he is more popular than Dave Allen with the punters..
I doubt his next fight bombs, it might not do as well as Chisora 2 or Parker but he's a proven draw now, been filling up the O2 since Browne which is no mean feat so he clearly has a fan base. Plus I'm sure Hearn will stack the undercard, we already have Allen and Price on the undercard.
