Hmm. Odd of you to say... He's fought quite a few worthy fighters over the years and showed to be of some quality beyond many fighters. You thinking little of him personally doesn't mean it wasn't a fair fight. There was nothing sketchy or supremely favoring the A-side about that one (hidden injuries, bad scoring, catchweight, lying about injuries, moving up divisions, etc). I didn't rate Adama as having a chance against any top 10 MW's at the time but it wasn't an "unfair fight" when Geale and later Golovkin defeated him. Mismatch, sure. Unfair, no.
Yeah your right Delvin has fought quite a few worthy fighters AND LOST TO EVERY ONE OF THEM. Well he did beat Wolak.
I don't care if he has or not, he's not that great and you know that....I've seen too many of his matches on FNF's to remember. And yes I'm on all of the RBR's for FNF's and FS1 shows to back that up. He's never impressed me that much....the win was okay but nothing any Cotto fan should hang their hat on and brag about.
I do agree with you to some extent (as long as you aren't being too extreme about it; calling him "worthless" and "never rated" isn't accurate at all). Still, there was nothing "unfair" about that fight like you dismissed it as. You can try to say he wasn't of a notable quality for a world class fighter like Cotto but then I would ask you if you think Golovkin's record is greater than 3-0 or 4-0, because the same that applied to Cotto beating Delvin as far as quality of opponent applies to all but a small handful of Golovkins' wins (and many many other fighters out there; just obviously Golovkin/Cotto angle is undeniable right now so I will use him and I have to type this explanation in order to prevent "you just hate Golovkin and Kovalev and Lomachenko and you are a racist Asian lover" responses).
Delvin is Proksa/Ishida level, neither of whom I rate very highly either, Rosado, Adama, Stevens I rate slightly higher than Delvin, and GGG's best wins are Murray, Macklin, Monroe Geale and Rubio all far better than Delvin.
You're talking out of the wrong hole again. Cotto has taken his beatings like a man on more than one occasion, he has fought the best of the best throughout his career, but because he wants somebody who outweighs him by 20 pounds to fight at 157, all of a sudden he's a btich ? Sometimes it is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
I think even Martinez from the Murray fight would knock Cotto out, his loss of mobility was clear as the sun shining in your eyes, the first round when he caught him had nothing to do with that but those other knockdowns were balance issues, which he continued to have throughout the fight, I don't believe that was a result of the punch, he looked clear headed in the next couple rounds and we all know Martinez has been whacked before and rode it out.
Cotto always beats Martinez, especially a Roach Cotto. Cotto is simply just on another level, he's mastered his mind, body and technique. If Martinez had as much guts as Cotto, he'd come out of his retirement and seek greatness like Cotto is doing now.
