Yeah, I don't like that slapping left from Mayweather. It seems out of place from his past form. It looks like it could be countered with a straight right down the pipe. What I do like from this though is his feet and base are always in a position to punch.

 

So apparently a top ten welterweight is garbage, Floyd never steps forward and walks into shots, and Mosley has a rare disease where his arms don't move up past his chest level to guard and his torso can't move side to side. Interesting.

I was going to say, the slappiness isn't something I like, but he's always kind of done that. His chin is in the air and he's pretty straight up with his feet planted. If Ortiz had thrown a looped punch at that moment out of his shell, I feel like he could have caught him. Floyd has few flaws, but one of the biggest ones is leaning in with his chin exposed and not punching at shoulder level so that it's covered.

I had him winning more on the night, I'll have to rescore, but it's more honorable and impressive to lose numerous close and competitive rounds, than to win 3 or 4 very clearly and get dominated for the rest with no answer.

 

Guess the ts got proved wrong. Never underestimate a fighter... i for one am really proud of cotto. He's a winner.

 

People are getting hung up on the amount of rounds won when only few rounds where clearly won. The numbers dont tell the story in this fight, hell the compubox was practically scoring everything Floyd threw as landed shots while Miguel was blocking a dodging them.

 

No, no, stop it. This always happens in Floyd fights. People push him to the ropes, swarm and get credit for not hitting much. Rounds were close if you score like that, but in reality they aren't.

Cotto had success with the left jab, that's great, but that don't make close rounds. Not when you're get countered on the inside like he was.

 

I agree with Bogatazo, Floyd does lean with his chin and is frought with danger especially as an older fighter, habits die hard and he should look at that, however, some may say that it's a small flaw in a fine diamond.

 

I think its you who needs to stop, you been working overtime here since the fight ended last saturday. If you had not watched the fight and someone handed you one of the judges scorecards, you would have never guessed how competitive the fight was.

Competitive doesn't necessarily mean close on the cards, you do know that right? Competitive doesn't win you rounds, right? No matter how competitive you are, if you do not land the cleaner and more effect blows, you lose the round, right?

If Floyd didn't have a bloody nose, half of these threads wouldn't exist. It's a crude idea, but it's true. People had a visceral reaction to that, and it bolstered there bias to how they thought the fight went.

Now, defense and clean effective punching and countering won Mayweather the majority of the rounds. You don't get extra credit for pressuring a guy, that doesn't work if you don't put up the points.
