Lets be honest. Muhammad Ali is good, but not that great...

    I understand that.

We can only speculate. But even though Ali was relatively young when he fought Norton the first time, he was still past his best where he had to employ different tactics.

Although their styles matched up well like Frazier's did, I'd still fancy a pre-exile Ali to beat any version of Ken Norton.

    There is no myth.

The attributes that Ali had would have been a handful for any HW in history.

He didn't get hit clean a lot before he came back from his exile.

    He had great movement.

He probably had the best footwork of all time.

I've never understood the overblown adulation of Ali, reminds me of The Beatles, pioneers for their time but somehow that gets skewed into being the best of all time and beyond criticism. Truth is Ali lost 5 fights and struggled against multiple bums, also dropped by some. The popular concensus is that he was unbeatable, I just don't get it. He wasn't even a particularly nice person!

Laughable. So a 215 Wilder can be a champs and Usyk a top level contender but a 218 Ali with greater foot movement, hand speed and chin better than ANY current HW can’t. You jokers need to watch boxing. Seriously.

I’m not even an old time fantasist.

    No fighter is unbeatable.

Ali isn't devoid of criticism by anybody who is objective.

Him losing 5 times isn't at all important, especially considering the circumstances.

He shouldn't even have held a license by the time he fought Holmes and Berbick.

I dunno about that, he seems to be above criticism by pretty much anyone. I've never heard anyone speak out against him publicly in any way shape or form. Only the occsional post online which always gets a huge backlash. Why?! What was so hugely impressive about him?

It’s pretty nuts that this guy fought 4 out of the top 10 ATGs. Liston, Frazier, foreman and Holmes. Champions across 4 different decades and beating all of them.

Stylistically I’m not sure how he does against the likes of fury but he schools everyone else. Wilder might be tough cos of that reach but I think he can be outboxed and Ali’s chin based on record would definitely withstand wilders shots.

Better chin?! 209 pounds Ali had a better chin than todays current SHW's? 185 Cooper had him down with a
Hook... just imagen what Whytes left hook would do to him...
