did fight and beat Margarito would he still be getting **** now? short answer is YES except people would be saying 'he never faught Williams, Cotto, Berto or Cintron and chose to fight the likes Margarito and Baldomir' People act like they would be content with just one of those names on his resume when in reality it's just something they can all parrot 'floyd never fought *insert list of fighters who'd be easy wins for Floyd (with the exception of Cotto)* With this kind of badgering mentality i'm surprised we don't see more 'Pacquiao never fought Zahir Raheem' type posts :-( Floyd SHOULD have fought Cotto IMO that would have been a HUGE scalp on his resume but asides from that there was no real need to fight Williams and Margarito because even if he fought both of them he'd still get **** deom people now. :verysad
problem is, he pretty much has fought CRAP, since he left 135 pounds about 8 years ago.... but he did look great beating brussels, chop chop, sharmba mitchell....they were much more of a threat at the time rather than cotto, williams, margarito
And everyone remembers when the insta-bum kicked in right after he jumped to 154 beat DLH then jumped back down to 147 to beat the then undefeated Ricky Hatton @147 (another one of his **** wins I guess? atsch)
DLH, who fought 90% of his career NOT at 154...who had lost 2 of his last 4 who was in his 15th year and was shot , old, and ring worn...i mean manny pac kod him and he used to fight at 107 pounds...whoopie and i already stated, hatton wouldnt have been undefeated if his only fight at 147, had been a loss like everyone thought it was....wow..floyd dropped down to fight hatton who came up in only his 2nd fight...everyone comes up to meet floyd...floyd has no balls to come up and fight guys like vernon, winky, williams, and now martinez......he feasts on has beens and guys almost 40
It would be a hell of a lot better if he fought some of those guys, sure people would still hate but in reality nobody says **** about him when he was at the lowerweight its at 140 and above he gets hated on, that he is capable of beating all doesnt give him a pass for the fights not happening of course. But youre right a name propably wouldnt make a difference, a few would.
and after Floyd beats pacquiao, it's just going to be, o well he didn't fight Martinez. We all knew he could beat Manny. It's like him to fight a smaller guy, why doesn't he fight Martinez
it's natural for fans to expect a lot from floyd as they see the capability he's got. the thing is, his activity and level of opposition have not exactly been at par with the expectations people set for him. compounding to that is how he runs his mouth about being the best. can't blame the people really. it would have been nice if he actually showed us how he would have defeated the likes of tszyu, cotto, margo, williams, pac, or even martinez (as he has got the tools to do so).
Floyd could have Pac's entire resume, and he would be called a bum. Pac gets so many free passes, I think mainly because Arum and HBO did a GREAT job at hyping hand promoting him as the smaller guy doing the impossible, when in reality he was bigger than most of his oppenents during his reign. Imo, DLH has a better resume, and I'd like a Pacturd to challenge me on that.
If he beat Margarito people would have been saying "so what look what Mosley and Pac did to him" no credit!!! A lot of people just don't like Floyd so they will always make excuses to discredit his resume.
The only thing important is for him to test himself instead of letting his fans come up with results from virtual matchups in their heads. I loved the fact that he beat Mosley the way he did and he gets much credit for that from me. If he fights Cotto at 154lbs and beats him he'd get much credit from me. If he fights Pacquiao and beats him he gets loads of credit from me. ....but if he fights and beats Devon Alexander in his first fight at 147lbs right now...then he doesn't get much credit for beating him, for obvious reasons !! Beating Marquez going up 2 weight classes and not making the initial agreed upon weight...not much credit.... Common sense, that's what it's about.
