Let's be honest. Warrington gets annihilated by Selby, Frampton, Quigg.

If he was 'garbage' he'd have folded at the half way point. Of course he's very beatable, but let's be honest, the three lads you mention aren't exactly British Lomachenkos are they? Especially Selby, who has looked very limited himself at world level, and whose biggest asset appears to be his ability to make 126 pounds for the 10 minutes required. Danny Jacobs must admire Selby's ability to manipulate the day before weigh-in rule!

 

I like Josh, but can't see how he won that fight.

 

I think there was a reason Hearn didn't fight that hard to keep him at Matchroom, he wished him well and let him go.

Hearn has better fighters around that weight class and the fact he turned down the Selby fight was a worrying sign, you grab those sort of opportunities with both hands if you genuinely believe you are good enough.

Warrington is European level at best, nothing wrong with that at all, it's still a very solid level but he would be overachieving if he managed to get his hands on one of the main four world titles.

 

I was ringside and i never felt josh waz in trouble at any time.
I reckon the the two foreign judges were right.
No way did kiko win that. Josh kept him long for most of the night and blocked most of kikos work.
It wasnt a top performance i agree but kiko showed that hes still a good gatekeeper for world title wanabees.
Josh won that against a world level operater. He did what he had to do and got the win.
Selby wouldnt of done any better imo

 

Well you will know being ringside is completely different to watching on a screen, so from others view points (even inside the venue) they might have seen a completely different fight.

Also the atmosphere has to be taken in to account when inside the arena, anybody can get involved in the atmosphere and be slightly swayed by the noise/cheers.

I don't think Kiko is a world class operator any longer, he is on the other side now, on the slide but it's a decent win.

I honestly believe Warrington would get slapped silly by Quigg, Selby and Frampton.

 

I think Warrington won by a round, two rounds at a push. To be fair, Kiko was game and had the stamina to do it for 12 rounds. I do believe Kiko rolled back the years somewhat.

The biggest issue for Josh is his lack of power. He is a good boxer with good speed and punch variety but he couldn't keep Kiko off him, despite catching him clean all night.

If Josh had power he'd certainly win a world title I think. It's hard to know how he'll do as it stands but I wouldn't rule him out against Selby or Quigg just yet. Neither are exactly elite and Josh may improve further.

I'd be interested in seeing him against the big boys anyway. I wouldn't rule out world level for hin yet as I say.

 

I gave it to kiko by a round. On reflection it was a tough ask for anyone who'd been out for a year. Draw and rematch would have been fair enough but not commercially sensible so Warrington got the nod. Can't see him getting much further as his punching power isn't world class

 

It was a close fight. As others have touched on, I think he lacks the power to really compete at the top level.

Quigg stops him, Frampton dominates him and even though I think Selby is overrated by some he is still several leagues above Warrington

yes u ate correct, depending on ur view , we can interpret the same situation in slightly different ways.

Kiko certainly turned up and all the talk of him been shot pre fight was wrong.
He gave a real good account of himself, and lets be right, hes still looks capable of mixing it up at world level. Obviously hes not on the same level as carl and lsc but i reckon hes more than just the gatekeeper. Div are always changing and who knows he may yet win a title again.
Warrington hurt his hand and u could tell this as his jab dropped off somewhat.
As daft as it sounds, i saw a similar display when he fought ian baily in his english def.
Josh has certainly come on since that night and im still expecting him to pick up a strap.
My choice would be vs selby

 

Warrington has no hope against selby

 

When you punch as soft as he does you have to be a pretty special boxer to be world class and he just isn't a good enough boxer to keep out of trouble.

 

Selby should win but I give him a chance v selby, not exactly like selby is some big puncher is it. Warringtons work rate and shot selection are great assests and we know selby takes time off in rounds, admires his work too much for me.

i quite like Warrington in the same way i like the McDonnells...good,tough hard working kids without that extra quality....typically English
