I wonder why nobody is claiming that the boxnation guys who called it for Horn influenced anybody? Teddy Atlas and Stephen Smith can't be the only one's with superpowers.
The way he behaves before during and after the fight. For example: Shaking his head negating the effect of a landed punch and smiling. Shadow boxing after the finishing bell to prove stamina. The strange proud facial expression. The now excessively prolonged praying in the corner before and after. The profound sadness during the post-fight interview. All those were missing in his other fights. BTW What has remained the same is his humbleness when he loses which is admirable.
How close were these commentators sitting to the judges? Actually, I consider the other commentators far less biased than Atlas was in his assessment of what was going on. What Atlas and these other commentators should have concentrated on was Horn's blatant fouling with Ref approval. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BoxNation
Agree with all of that to one degree or another, but especially the last. Have always liked that about him.
Not just interviews. His fighting style has become more cautious and safety first. He's become Floyd Mayweather or Bernard Hopkins in the ring pot shotting, not engaging, spoiling, counter punching, playing defense and making opponents come to him. He used to be the Energizer bunny overwhelming opponents with a relentless seek and destroy style darting in and out and all over the place like a little speed demon.
Agree with three points of the four. I don't care if Pacqiuao stays on to fight bums now he has lost the belt, but it will a shame for him to tarnish his legacy like a Toney or Jones jr by staying past his expiration date.
Agree with this. Maybe not quite to the extent of Money or BHop, but after KTFO6 the no-****s-given abandon with which he previously battled was markedly diminished.
Whatever you do, if there is someone willing to pay 10 million dollars to see you keep doing it, it's never time to retire. 100k isn't worth brain damage. 10 million might be.
Admitting that one is really getting old or weaker isn't easy for common folk. I imagine it's even harder for a famous athlete. Marciano was an exception. Hopkins rebelled against it to the very end. Reminds me of the poem: Do not go gently into that Good night.
If someone is willing to pay 10 mil for him then he can continue especially if needs the money. However his value is dropping every fight, if he was smart he would of retired after the third Bradley fight and came back two or three years later to fight the cash cow at that time maybe he could make 50 or 60 mil in one go.
I think you should get out on top though, because people don't really care that your getting old if your in the sport they tend to wanna see you be in there in good fights against top names. It reminds me of the batman quote: die and be a hero or live long enough to see yourself be come a villian.
