Let's think about it with an open mind. I think we need more divisions. There are certain weight classes where the jump in weight is simply too much. 175>200 is one, 200-Super HW is also another. A CW trying to go up and beat a 6'7-6'9 HW is just too difficult. That's why I believe SHW's should have their own division. 155>160.. maybe make 157? 160>168.. maybe 164 168>175. maybe 171? Let's go about this with an open mind. I REALLY woudln't mind something like this I think we'll get to actually see much more competitive fights. People in the upper weight classes would be more willing to move up and the people under would be willing to move up a few. Discuss. This would actually benefit the sport of boxing.
Dont think we need anymore divisions. Haye beat a massive HW something like 7 stone heavier than him I think and it wasnt Haye who was wobbled either. Still it may well be happening without anyone really noticing too much as there have been a few fights recently between LMW and MW and between LWW and WW
The only additional division totally necessary is between LHW and CW. Maybe a junior-CW division at something like 187. Definitely no need for one between JMW and MW or MW and SMW. Any fighter can move between those weights freely, I think.
Splitting the heavyweight division into heavyweight/superheavyweight or super crusierweight/heavyweight I can see. The rest, no.
But would there be a weight limit? So some fat slob could fail to make the superheavyweight limit? :rasta
LHW limit to -> 180, HW limit to -> 210. Make massive weight cutting impossible. Boxing will be a different sport.
