Lets dabble into the Floyd Hater mentality for a moment, just a dabble...

Every challenge Cotto took was tougher than the last and he proved, being the underdog, that he was the better boxer. Zab Judah was not the actual champion when Mayweather fought him either. He just lost to Baldomir but was lucky to keep some belts. It seemed as if Mayweather's opponents got easier by the minute, while Cotto's kept getting tougher.

Your just a newbie that wants to start some contravercy that has already been settled. Mayweather couldn't man up and prove his so called greatness against Cotto, or any other top welterweight for that matter. So STFU and leave the threads to ones that actually care about the sport.

Yes he did get tired and it was pretty obvious, he had to pull some punches unless he made sure they will score and didn't go reckless despite Cotto being hurt because he couldn't afford it. So yes he was tired late and Shane was a machine in his prime, pretty much similar to the DLH case going in against Mayweather with both fights being close and tough.

It has nothing to do with you, just proving a point to the rest who fail to give credit where it's clearly due, wouldn't want to quote half the forum in this thread so threw it all here, no offense.

Hardly any facts, just pure hate and opinion. When we had a discussion that involved facts you packed your bags far sooner than expected and more than once in various threads. You're a waste of time. :smoke

What most annoys folk is when a Mayweather fan starts the greatest of all time ****. Its then that you can tell the men from the boys.

    a) it can take one punch to cause swelling
    b) forbes lost therefore he didnt employ the right tactics, floyd won so his tactics worked
    c) the fight wasnt close de la hoya came to close to winning because he's de la hoya i suppose you think be cause de la hoya got the decisions against sturm that was right because the judges says so...de la hoya lost to floyd and it wasnt even close 8-4/9-3

AS you can see the difference between Floyd fans and Floyd haters are quite clear. Floyd fans seek to argue Floyds career, accomplishments and skills, while at the same time not bashing other fighters like Cotto in childish ways. While Floyd haters really cant come up with competant arguments and repeat the same lines ad nauseum that we've all heard 1,000 times before. And if that doesnt work they get all worked up and start insulting everyone personally because they cant handle an intelligent debate.

Goes to show you who are the real weekend boxing fans and why bum fights is the most viewed video on youtube.

If SHane slowed down so much, and I don't think he did as badley as it sounds, that still is not close to DLH, who's slowed down after 7-8 rounds for almost 10 years now. DLH was no machine going into Mayweathers fight. No way. Part time fighter is the best you can say.

Yawn... if you didn't get relevant arguments, it's likely because everyone who has the ability to give them has moved on. The subject is tired beyond words at this point.

"Dabble" into this. Your favorite fighter retired before fighting any of the five best current welterweights, yet claimed loudly that he wasn't just the best welterweight ever, but the best ever period. Oscar at 154 was an away game pay day against a past prime opponent, yet was probably Floyd's most meaningful fight in all time terms. And now that HBO has cashed him out for life, he's citing the inability to motivate himself as grounds for retirement. These are facts. My opinion is that this isn't the stuff of unassailable greatness. My standards are a touch higher.

By all means, enjoy the illusion that you have sucessfully defended a fighter who "retired" before cementing his legacy, and whose resume will look less and less impressive as the years roll by and his one time peers continue to take on meaningful challenges. That is, if his retirement isn't just another publicity stunt, in which case, he wasted two years of his prime that could have been spent in the ring.

And while he's still retired, please enjoy rehashing these "hater" threads. The rest of us will be moving on to real fights involving real fighters. :smooch
