The fight offically took place at 154 dumbass it was for the WBC 154 belt. What part of that don't you understand? PBF could come in at 130 for the fight if he wanted to which makes his win over Oscar even more impressive since Oscar on fight night weighed as much as a MW. that's what P4P is all about being the best regardless of weight. Don't get bent out of shape because I'm owning your ass. :good

 

I will tell you why, Cotto is seeking the fights that will lable him as the very best welter weight, While Floyd is seeking fights that will only fatten his bank account.
Floyd is not out for his legacy he is out for wealth, Cotto has taken bigger risk in his last fight and in this one. So Cotto will continue to get Kudos becuase he is doing what real true champions do, he fights and beats the best to prove who the best really is, While Floyd sits and talks **** claiming to be the best with out providing the fights to prove it.

 

yeah the fight was at 154 but you cant argue floyd moved up he didnt, he was 147 for the fight hows that moving up in weight?

Both of them were risks. And both were achievements. But if PBF had fought a young hungry guy like Cotto or Pavlik (LMW is a wasteland!!) or if Pacquiao had beat Casamayor or Campbell or Juan Diaz, it would've meant more. But whereas Pac probably will now chase the tougher opponent to prove his greatness, PBF won't take the risk.

 

Mayweather being a great modern fighter is a statement of near fact. My issue is that many of his fans think he was the greatest 130-154 pound fighter ever. That statement is complete fiction.

How do you see his career after that period? Personally I have long held the opinion he became a semi exibition boxer from 2003 onwards.

 

His career after that is garbage he wasted alot of good talent he had by cherry picking and taking the easiest softest fights possible, he knew DLH was a risk but out of the top welters it wasnt the biggest risk the reward was extremly high, that is why he jumped on that fight.
However he barley beat the old man, and somehow thinks that win puts him as the very best:roll:

Nonsense. Roy Jones Jr was a million times better than PBF. I think in time people will see that Pacquiao is too.
PBF did do the best work of his anti-climactic career at 130 (beat good- but it must be said, not great- fighters in Chavez, Hernandez, Corrales and Manfredy), but off the top of my head, Alexis Arguello was a better fighter at 130. There will be others, PBF is the most overrated fighter in history.

 

Both Mayweather and Jones whilst great, are guilty of making sure there was a fair distance between themselves and the elite competion.

 

His career after that was fine at 135 he took on the man in JLC 2x. At 140 he beat Gatti but went after Hatton the linear champ but was turned down twice. At 147 he went after Zab who was the linear champ and signed to fight him but he lost so he fought him anyway and then fought the linear champ in Baldo. At 154 a weight that didn't have a linear champ he fought Oscar there who was percieved as the best there. Then he fought Hatton in a fight that should have taken place back in 2005 at 147 who at the time was a top 10 P4P fighter and won. What most people who criticize PBF's resume fail to notice is the fact that in every weight class PBF has been in he has looked to fight the linear chmap of that divison and only because Hatton refused at 140 and at 154 there wasn't one is the reason why he wasn't linear in those classes as well. At 147 his resume could have Cotto on it but it would only enhance his resume not hurt it PBF is an ATG with or without Cotto.

The people who bash PBF's resume either A don't look at it closely enough or B are PBF haters who bash him no matter who he fights and whatever he does will never be enough until he losses or C think that his resume at 147 overrides everything he did at the lower weightclasses. He has one of the best resumes of any fighter in the top 10 P4P at the moment.

 

None of those guys were prime? Judah?Hatton?Corley?
