Please! ... some people here talk about it like that's what makes a fight

Let's make this clear RING GENERALSHIP CAN BE THE DIFFERENCE IN A CLOSE ROUND OR FIGHT .. but if fighter A lands outlands, has a higher punches landed percentage, and is on the verge of knocking out fighter B on numerous occasions .. there's no way in hell fighter B wins the bout based on better ring generalship ... there are many ways to define the term Ring Generalship. Its a very over used statement

More than likely if you are are the general in the ring then you are controlling the distance and in most cases the PACE of the fight as well. Which usually means you are landing at a higher percentage and controlling the action.

But there are cases where the "Ring General" can be outworked......but that's where "clean effective punching" comes into play. YOu can have a guy pushing the fight landing sh*t and controls the PACE or TEMPO of the fight but still ends up losing to the less active fighter based on landing more efficiently and having the cleaner technique.

Agreed 100% ... thing is I saw a couple threads this week stating a load of crap .. for example some guy said paul williams won based on ring generalship ... I stopped reading there ... come on ... all he displayed was ineffective agressiveness, wasn't cutting off the right ... walking into traps all night ... and was letting the counter puncher get off 1st ...

    Smh

Nah... Paul got a gift this past weekend. He's knows it too. he's not the same fighter he used to be and Lara stepped up MAJOR! Paul was more active but let's be real...the GENERAL in that fight was LARA all day long. he took the fight on the outside and landed that overhand left at will for the length of the fight. But good post bro...I agree with you on this.

Seen too many fighters lose when they clearly throw and land more , just because the opponent ( probably a big name) lands the odd flashy head snapping shot.

James Toney got an absolute gift a few years ago when completely beaten in every department , he throws in the odd shoulder roll and gets a UD.

    Bull****.
