Thats because the time spent was too short. I think if Khan trains with floyd sr for a 1-2 years and fights bums in between to not risk damage and stay active he can improve drastically.

Fighters will almost always revert to their instincts and the way they were initially nurtured to fight ... fighting defensively is almost the antithesis of Khan's style and natural tendency ... so unless he can somehow make it so that he can absorb punishment better, there is really only so much someone can do

 

and then once again at some critical juncture he will revert back to being Khan and get rocked
