Charles Martin wasn't the champ. Wlad Klitschko wasn't the champ. Eric Molina wasn't the champ. Dominic Breazeale wasn't the champ. Carlos Takam wasn't the champ.

If Joseph Parker pulls the upset, I wouldn't be surprised if most people decide the winner of Wilder-Ortiz is the best active heavyweight in the world.

But the truth is, Tyson Fury is the champ until someone beats him.

 

Let's get another thing straight: nobody has the crown right now.

yea the winner of this fight moves into 2nd for now.. unless parker beats Joshua then I would move them back down to 3rd .

 

Tyson Fury is the heavyweight champion. He won the title. He's been off for two years. Other champs were off longer. I don't pay the orgs any mind. One stripped him within a couple weeks before Wlad had even decided if he wanted to exercise his rematch clause.

Whoever beats him is the new champ.

If Wilder beats Ortiz, it looks like Wilder will get Fury first.

Joshua is booked well into next year.

If Parker wins, the winner of Wilder-Ortiz probably moves up to the number one spot behind Fury (the champ).

Fury is the champ. He beat Wlad. Fury hasn't lost.

Wlad, coming off his loss, lost to Joshua. That's doesn't make Joshua the champ any more than Gerrie Coetzee knocking out Leon Spinks the fight after Spinks lost the title to Ali made Gerrie Coetzee the champ.

Spinks wasn't the champ anymore. Neither was Wlad.

Larry Holmes didn't become the "world" champ until he beat Ali.
