It's not just a case of haters, all great fighters had a lot of haters Ali/Leonard/Hagler/RJJ/Lewis/Tyson/Foreman/Liston and the list doesn't end. It's just a case of Floyd signing to fight someone, being the favorite, winning and people going "Oh well, we expected that, so what?". Whoever he fights he will be considered the favorite over and if he wins it's rubbish, not Floyd's fault he's considered far better than others based on the abilities he already proved in the ring. A very good case that could relate to the situation here is RJJ/Tarver, many people claimed Tarver will destroy RJJ and RJJ is scared to death from him...etc, yet when the fight happens and RJJ wins there are small groups that claim it was a robbery and huge groups that claim it's a bull****/worthless fight and RJJ is scared to death from Lewis and the HW division.
I dont know if he ducked him or not but I would pick a prime Casa to possibly spoil a younger 130 not as experienced as he is now Mayweather for sure
Floyd already called out Casamayor, Freitas and Hamed after beating Corrales. Casamayor went on to lose against Freitas and Floyd moved up in weight. Not to forget that Casamayor also fought Corrales and lost to him in a rematch then also went on to lose against Castillo. Also at 130 I would consider Floyd way better in comparison to wha Joel had to offer back then.
I dont think he would beat him but I agre it would be close.. a prime Casa is a very skilled and clever fighter
Floyd's movement to 135 to fight Burton was a sign he planned to stay there and that fight was a tune-up to set up a fight with Castillo as he planned to have, then moved down as the fight with Corrales went through and stayed there for 2 more fights after it only to move up and fight Castillo as planned. Floyd fought Mitchell at 147 and an offer to fight Casamayor there was never brought up seriously. You think Casamayor would have moved up to 147 and took the fight instead of Mitchell who was supposed to be a tune-up before fighting Judah who ALSO had a tune-up and mandatory in Baldomir?, I don't think so especially when Casamayor never fought beyond 135.
What do you mean he didn't plan to fight Casamayor at the time?, of course he did and called it out as an option he plans to go for right after the Corrales fight with Freitas and Hamed as possible options as well. Did Casamayor ever bring out Floyd as an option?, if yes then I would really like to see it because as far as I remember he was targetting Freitas when Floyd was at 135 fighting Castillo and that's where/when Casamayor lost and talks were burried right there. Floyd agreed because he was looking to move to 147 ANYWAY as a fight with Judah was being negotiated and set at that point.
calling fighters out and actually wanting to fight them are two diferent things dumbass. Darchinian called Taylor out do you really think he wanted to fight him?
And how the hell would a nubcake like you know he didn't want to fight him?, calling a fighter out DOES mean you want to fight them, it's the situation surrounding the negotiations or even negotiating with their teams that proves otherwise, jackass.
keep believing that knucklehead. he wanted to fight those guys like he wanted to fight Cotto and Margo. but let me guess is the other guys that are ducking him:nut :nut :nut
I'm not an idiot like you to label a great professional fighter and athlete a "ducker", no sorry Mr. Keyboard soldier but as a true fan I find such comments coming from newbies. I judge based on what I see and the situations surrounding these names, I don't just bring out names out of my ass without knowing jack**** about them, unlike you as your posts prove. Yes he did want to fight those guys because he mentioned them, he never really mentioned Cotto or Margartio because that was at the end of his career at that point and had no motivation to go on anyway to fight these guys. At the time he was new in the WW division, Cotto was a rising fighter and still a Light Welterweight, it was only when Floyd was officially retiring that Cotto was ready to fight him, it was also in Floyd's last year that Cotto had his first major test at Welterweight against Mosley that he was considered a legit threat. As far as Margarito is concerned when Floyd moved to the Welterweight division he had an available unified undisputed title/champion in mind, something Margarito didn't seem interested in despite being available FOR YEARS. Also at that point Margarito hasn't accomplished jack**** in the division to even be considered as a legit opponent, when an opponent is considered they look at what that fighter has done, this isn't charity, the only claim to fame there was bull**** media hype pretty similar to the Vivian Harris media hype just moved to another division. Did you even notice that it's only recently that Margarito captured the #1 spot?, go figure assclown.
