The numbers I gave you are actually pretty high. Especially for his weight class. So while Mayweather may not be the face of boxing here in the States (DLH still is, but he is leaving too), he certainly sold well.

If you substitute Mayweather with Winky fighting Delohaya, do you honestly think that fight would have done the same numbers? If you think so, you are fooling yourself.

Fighters personalities go a long way in marketing a fight

So you think Hatton was the reason why their fight did 850,000 ppv buys domestically? You think Americans were buying the fight just to see Hatton:huh

A simple one really. We are discussing PPV's, not selling out stadiums. Mayweather sells absolutely fine here.

Hatton fights in an entirely different sports culture in the UK. Any one could tell you that. The US as a whole doesn't support boxing like the UK. And they dont' have nearly as many big fights in the UK as we do in the States, so it's only reasonable that when they do get one, they are all over it.

Ok.....but if you substitute Mosley for anyone else, and I don't think Cotto has done over 300k.

If you substitute JMM for anyone else, and Pacquiao hasn't done over 350K.

Keep your criticism legit and real, not exaggerated. Doing so makes you no better than the fans you despise who exaggerate FOR Mayweather.

Mayweather was not the face of boxing though.....this is true. He was getting there in the US simply through DLH. That is sad in and of itself.

Yeah, but that is after the DLH fight. He beat America's favorite boxer, of course people are gonna start watching afterwards. Now Britain knows who Mayweather is because he beat Britain's favorite boxer. The question was about DLH and Hatton still pulling in such big numbers by themselves. I answered yes because they already are the draw. Mayweather helped, especially in the Hatton fight, don't get me wrong. But you are talking about the two biggest boxers on earth.

You are right in the sense that Floyd was not a household name pre-Delohaya, Hatton. But you must admit that he used the added exposure to make himself into "the premier" star attraction in boxing

I would bet my last dollar that he would be capable of doing great numbers from here on out without needing those two.

Well I guess that means that all parties involved benefited from one another. Is there anything wrong with that?
