For all the flack he's now getting, Sergey did what Stevenson refused for years, and that's give a shot to a very dangerous, undefeated and hungry challenger when he didn't have to.

A rarity in today's boxing politics.

    I agree.

Props to Kovalev, he's a real ring warrior who went out on his shield tonight.

He had a very nice run for several years, beating a lot of good opponents like Cleverly, up until he was robbed in that first fight with Ward. Age is catching up with him, it happens to every fighter.

Definitely give him credit, to be fair Kovalevs bravery has never been questioned, I think he would fight anyone. However he doesn’t handle adversity very well. I think Ward beat the best version of Kovalev, it’s only gunna get worse from here.

Alvarez is the only boxer who trully beat Kovalev.

He did it without the help of the judges or the referee, and within the boxing rules instead of the street rules.

Yes, and I disagree with the people who are calling him a china chin quitter. Thats nonsense. I saw differently. He got up quickly all 3 times he was flattened. That to me shows HUGE heart just like Joe Frazier when he got up 7 times against Big George.
Major props to Alvarez that was an awesome fight.

Blah blah, ward took Kovalevs soul. He took the invincible aura, he rocked Kovalev with the right and had him doing the stanky leg. Alvarez came through and wiped the rest of Kovalev away.

You don't get to define reality, pal.

Everybody and his sister knows Ward got a gift in the first fight, then after getting into a favorable moment, low blowed him because he was running out of gaz himself, similarly to the blatant headbutts in the Kessler fight.

The punk just can't win a tough fight within the written boxing rules; neither can he respect a signed contract outside the ropes.

    He's simply a textbook sociopath.

Even Zivic never attempted to pass himself as a man of god.

That chapter is done and sealed for in the boxing history books and the boxing fans' folklore, whether that pleases you or not.

    Indeed.

That's too where you realize Kovalev never really cared to learn the trade: he could have attempted to clinch or run the clock, and might have survived the rd.

But once he got clocked, he completely reacted by instinct.

Why give someone credit for doing his job? Credit is only due if the boxer being credited has moved up to force a fight that didn’t have to happen. A world champion should be prepared to fight any of the top challengers in his division.

It was Kovalev who lost the tough fight against Ward. It was Kovalev looking to the referee for help everytime Ward hurt him with body shots.

also if you watch the fight, Alvarez was totally amped for the fight, he looked like he was on PCP, if you watch his face between rounds.

Maybe Kov just didnt anticipate that. Not a great excuse though, you are supposed to bring your best into the ring at world level.
