Ortiz is no pushover. He is one of the most exciting fighters out there right now. He's young... he's on an upswing in his career, he is coming off of the best performance and win of his career... and he is a title holder. Ortiz looks much better at 147 than he did at Jr. Welterweight... and he has the speed and power to cause anyone problems.

Floyd is coming off of a long layoff... and this certainly isn't a tune up fight. When you get to the point that you are bashing Floyd for fighting an opponent like Ortiz, then it's time to hang up the keyboard. Ortiz is a top flight, dangerous opponent. Of course we all want to see Mayweather vs Pac, but that isn't happening right now. This fight along with Pac vs JMM III (another fight that I am excited to see)... could really be the final push to make that fight happen if they both come out on top.

I have been critical of Floyd in the past, and I have defended him in the past. In this case, I think we need to give the man some credit and be happy that one of the best boxers in the world is coming back to the ring and giving us fans a very good fight to be excited about.

    Credit!!??

He is fighting a guy who is easier to hit than Rhianna after a night out with Chris Brown

Unless he fights Pac, really, who gives a s**t.

    Let's not!
That clown has spent more time on the canvas in the last 6 fights...
He's been "floored" 6 times ffs.
He's custom made for floyds right hand.

    Custom made fight.

Had mayweather gone for Martinez @ 154lb or PAC @ 147lb that's balls.

Ortiz is a ****ing joke, got tko by ****ing maidana.....

Win or lose... all of Ortiz's opponents have hit the canvas. That alone makes this an exciting fight for me. He has never failed to get to his opponents chin, and he has put them all down. He's a very talented young fighter.

Yeah, Mayweather might be too slick for him, and I am sure that Floyd will have ample counter punching opportunities. Mayweather's a great boxer, you can't hold that against him and pretend like nobody is a good enough opponent because of his talent. That's silly.

Mayweather CAN NOT fight Pac right now. So, I can't think of a more exciting opponent than Ortiz for Mayweather to fight right now at Welterweight.

I give Mayweather alot of credit & props for risking his life against a youngsta.
Ortiz is not gonna let Floyd off the hook.

Mayweather will be pushed around like he hasn't in years.
I fully expect Mayweather '11 not the one everyone else thinks will show.

I am giving Floyd credit here but lets be honest he's riding Victor's popularity after beating an over-hyped over-protected Berto. That fact that the initial odds for this fight has Floyd favored by 10-1 tells you everything :patsch:patsch:patsch

    What for?

So he could earn a fat pay cheque and go back into retirement again?

If its not pac then this is a pretty good alternative, its just there is always the oh why is it not pac thing going on, no matter who he picks

The only question is how will the ppv numbers go, since ortiz is not really a big name i think they may not be so hot, could be wrong though, but i get a sense that a lot of people are not happy with floyd and his time off and then not fighting pac and may not buy into this fight fully. Ortiz is no mosley or jmm, hes at least a few levels below them

People keep talkin about his layoff.

The mother ****er was layin himself off because Pac was takin his money. He was scared to **** with Pac or Martinez.

So **** his layoff. It didn't stop him from talkin **** from the sidelines.

    Now he's gonna fight Ortiz?

    Man, **** this fight.

We've been waitin this long so he can fight Ortiz and take your money like a sucker after he beats him easily then waits on the sideline again for 2 damn years.

This is a bull**** fight because THIS IS THE FIGHT.

This is no preclude. You think it's gonna be a preclude, but it's NOT.

    This is THE fight.

    So **** this bull****.
