Jermain Taylor is my favorite boxer and I agree. I really hope Jermain wins this tourney but it won't be easy.

snippet from boxing new article on jt: :bbb:bbb:bbb:bbb:bbb

"As of now, not too many boxing experts are giving Taylor much if any chance to win the tournament and in some cases, they don’t see Taylor winning any of his group I bouts. The fight against Abraham, 29, might be Taylor’s best chance to pick up a win, because Abraham isn’t a busy fighter in the ring in the past few years and could possibly be outworked by Taylor.

Indeed, Abraham’s work rate – or lack thereof – is very similar to the low punch output of Jeff Lacy, a recent opponent of Taylor who was soundly defeated by Jermain in a 12 round decision win in November 2008. Abraham, obviously, has more left in the tank than Lacy at this point, but unless Abraham is able to increase his work rate in a dramatic way, he may find that he doesn’t have the tools to beat Taylor.

If the fight comes down to a tactical battle of jabs, Taylor wins this one without any problems. Taylor doesn’t get tired when all he has to do is jab. It takes a fighter putting constant pressure on Taylor for him to tire out. Thus far, Kelly Pavlik, Carl Froch and to a lesser extent Winky Wright, where all able to take Taylor deep and cause him to struggle."

    I read that article already.

I read another article where the author was trying so hard to hype Abraham that he referred to Shannon Taylor as "stiff opposition.":patsch That freaking guy was coming off a TKO loss to Raymond Joval when he got his title shot against AA!

That was from Ted Sares' article posted on this site.

He also tries to suggest that Abraham's home field advantage will work against Taylor by pointing out that JT's "3 defeats and one draw occurred outside of Arkansas."

Oh really? Maybe because out of Taylor's 32 pro fights, only 6 have been in Arkansas, and only ONE (Ouma) has been in his home state since becoming MW champ in 2005.

    Genius, that writer.

Your post here is quite telling about Jermain Taylor. You mention four fights here to make a point that Taylor can make noise. Two of those he lost by KO, the other two he won by debated decisions. This always seems to be the story with Taylor "IF he can improve his stamina", "IF he learns from his mistakes"...I remember before the Pavlik rematch how many took the "almost KO" in round two of their first fight as evidence what Taylor could do IF...

The one ability Taylor seems to lack is to maximize his strengths. If he had that ability, he would have beaten Wright, dominanted Spinks and Ouma, KO'd Pavlik in round 2, beaten Froch.

i agree. the thing is, yeah taylor gasses but is that b/c of a lack of stamina so much as it is the guy has so much nervous and wasted movement?? if you look at his fights from the past and present, he comes out at the opening bell fidgeting and feinting and swatting his forehead and really just showing a **** ton of wasted movement. i dunno. he gasses, thats for sure. i just wonder if he also worked on other things in addition to his stamina, how would that also help him?

on another note, i think bigbone had a good point on here that, yeah you can debate his decisions over bhop but the fact is that he did a helluva lot better against bhop than most people do...he handled bhop pretty well.
