The march towards the Mayweather rematch starts tonight! I hope Oscar goes out there, puts on a great performance, and forces all of his haters to work double time trying to discredit him. Oscar deserves respect, as he has given us mega fight after mega fight for his entire career, and usually gets trashed for his efforts on this message board. I hope that he dominates tonight, and goes on to beat Mayweather in Sept.

Oscar has done more good for boxing than any other super star ever has. he fought everyone he possibly could have fought. Win or lose he has gotten back up on his horse and shown more balls than most ESB members and most fighters on top.

This is a good tune-up for Mayweather next, to be honest. At least Forbes' fighting style is decent enough to be considered a test before Mayweather. If they plan to make the rematch then so be it, though I'd rather see Mayweather fight Cotto/Marg winner but if this is coming up then sure. The first fight was extremely close so a rematch won't be totally ignored.

Well said, sir. I agree with you. De La Hoya deserves much more credit than he receives on this forum. Whether people are fans of De La Hoya or not - fans of boxing should appreciate that his battles with Mayweather will bookend two great years of boxing.

I hope De La Hoya looks good tonight as well. I can't wait for the rematch with Mayweather because De La Hoya will come out with his hand raised this time around. 2008 will be another great year for boxing.

The thing is, if he does win this, and the DLH/Mayweather rematch comes off, what does it do for boxing? Sure, both of them will get another monumental payday, it'll draw a **** load of PPV buys, again, and to be perfectly honest, both will probably underperform - again.

And where will it get us? About $50 in the hole. Both fighters could make better fights, better for boxing, and still make a lot of money in the process. The last fight was a great event, but the fight itself was lacking. It wasn't horrible by any means, and was a show of two technically proficient fighters both who looked a little wary of taking risks. In the words of HBO's commentators, neither "dared to be great."

The DLH/Mayweather rematch is pretty much about the almighty dollar. Not about furthering one's legacy, about taking the best fight, proving their mettle against the best, any of that. I think 99% of boxing fans would rather see Mayweather fight Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, or any other top welter for that matter. And the same goes for DLH. I'd love to see DLH/Margarito, DLH/Cotto - hell, I'd rather even see DLH/Mosley III than this.

The fact is, this fight leaves us in pretty much the same spot we are now.

DLH is 1/33 on to win this fight. If you put £10.00 on DLH you win 33p. Sadly the bookies can no way on earth see him losing this fight.

Hope he loses so it can force Mayweather on to bigger and better fights. Floyd getting away with WrestleMania and a DLH rematch is a waste of P4P space, our money and time.

Who do you want mayweather to fight so badly? Cotto? Who just fought Gomez??? It's okay for Cotto to fight the Gomez' and the Urkals, but PBF can't get paid after paying his dues through 5 weight classes over a decade of fighting and becoming the best fighter in the world in the process?
