Yep. Kiwi Boxer was too busy crying and honking like a goose to actually watch the fight properly though...

I actually had kovalev winning early and didn't look at my final score until after. There were about 3-4 rounds where I had to stop and truly think who won the round.

Yet the judges didn't give those swing rounds to who they normally give those rounds to under circumstances where two unknowns are fighting.
Under those normal circumstances, judges would normally give a competitive close round to the fighter who is dictating pace and tempo and who is going forward.
I'll say this about the fight. The whole fight was fought at Kovalev's pace and tempo. He come forward and dictated with his jab the distance in which the punches would be exchanged. The times the fight went to the inside, neither fighter was much effective as they were both sloppy during infighting.

The aftermath of this bout feels nothing like what occurred post Timmy/Pac

I've mentioned it already in other threads 7-5 for either man is quite acceptable based on your own personal judging standards. Of course we've all created parameters on which we judge fights and I can certainly see how one would pick SK over Ward and vice versa. I came into the fight with a vested interest in SK after the initial rounds I almost started counting my rewards. The subtle progression shown by Ward after such a strong start by SK provided enough evidence for the judges to elect Ward the winner. The flow resembled a Ward type fight the punch output the percentages landed etc etc....who would you say controlled the pace and executed their game plan more effectively from the mid-point until the 12th? Punch stats revealed such marginal differences, I doubt one could use that as evidence for a verdict.

This was no robbery, I look forward to the rematch.

I hope so, the fight deserves a rematch, SK deserves a chance at vindication and Ward deserves a chance to solidify himself and reinforce his initial victory.

If you can put aside the rubbish robbery talk you can truly see an awesome chess match.

Thanks for the respectful reply. I appreciate your articulate response and the time you took answering my initial post. Sorry; but I do not have the energy to go over everything again. I feel strongly that Kovalev won comfortably and I doubt repeating myself will change anyone's mind. I am also of the opinion that Ward will retire next or take one more victory lap fight for his hometown fans then wait for his HOF induction.

Thanks again for your civil response it is more than I deserve in many cases.

Man please! Ward did a sight better than Bradley did against Pac! If you think Bradely performed as well as Ward, then there is no helping you! At least give ward that much credit...he earned it!!!

I disagree about kovalev dictating pace. A lot of Ward's work is subtle and given little credit.

It is what it is .

    This is boxing .

    Robberys happen in boxing .

People need to learn that and accept that if they want to continue to follow this sport .

We need to accept the good and bad in boxing . We are not always going to get the correct result .

    Oh well..

I highly disagree with the result myself .

I felt it was a very clear loss for Ward .

But I'm not going to lose any sleep over it . Its not that serious . it will be extremely easy for me to move on .

The fans and the media are the ones who are outraged and refuse to accept the decision.

Right now as I speak the backlash is still going on everywhere .

Instagram, FB , Twitter you name it .

Everyone is still running their mouth off about this robbery .

Whatever . Im looking forward to Loma/Walters now , Lets see what happens in that matchup .

Ward did a bit better than Bradley, so what? My point was they were both robberies and I am seeing signs of sheeple already going along with the Kovalev screw job just like they did Pac.

Kovalev 116-111 plus a KD and visibly hurting Ward on a few other occasions.

    vs

Pacquaio 118-110 no KD's and not really hurting Bradley much at all.

I bet most of the people who agreed with Pac getting shafted also think Ward actually won. Probably also think Russell Jr kept it close vs Loma.

I agree with Harold Lederman, 116 -111 Kovalev

Boxing is a sport, not politics, the bigots scored against the Russian, it's that simple.............Ward has to cheat to win usually, esp. in this fight. Rematch? They will have to sue Ward to get the rematch............and they not only will, they will win in court....................SOB is a coward............
