Let's keep things in perspective-Mosley is still the best welterweight in the world!

That so many people are making so much of this predictable performance by Mayweather is rather baffling.

    Barring Floyd, of course.

Prior to this performance Mayweather was already the best welter in the world . . . and better than Shane. The problem with your thread here is that it suffers from chronological issues. You must be under the impression that Mayweather was just inaugurally crowned the best p4p fighter in the sport after this performance. This is not so. He has been the best p4p fighter in the world and since he's a welterweight then by definition it makes him the best welter. Anyway, Shane has unresolved issues with Cotto. I'd put Cotto as the top welter in the world before Shane . . . barring Mayweather, of course.

I'd still go with Shane. Cotto beats Shane in a close fight, Margo makes Cotto quit and Shane destroys Margo.

I'm hoping we get Mosley vs Mayweather and perhaps the winner to fight the winner of Pac-Cotto. Unlikely (since Pac is no true welterweight) but I can dream...

floyd is to hard to hit and typical hopkins putting his head when floyd was being interviewed trying to stir it up i rate moseley highly but dont think he will trouble mayweather .

Well said. I have Shane at #2 P4P right now, Floyd behind.

Mosley underestimated Cotto. By the time he figured it out, you can see when he starts bouncing on his toes, there was only three to four rounds in the fight. During that time Mosley almost knocks Cotto out, Cotto showed how chinny and hurtable he is (the Margo fight would reveal it further), gets on his bike, but then the fight is over. Next fight Shane ko's Cotto quickly. The real vulnerability in this fight is Cotto's, not Shane's.

In my view there are only 4 people in the 147 division that Mayweather can fight or needs to fight if he is to continue on doing so, they are:- Cotto,Pacquaio,Mosley and Williams.

I was also wondering if Mayweather will feel disrespected enough that he will now want to fight with Mosley?

Hatton called him out so to Marquez and Mayweather couldnt wait to get to grips with them.

Mosley basically nearly made him cry last night and he did disrespect him of sorts so i wonder if he will now want to "punish" Mosley?

For the record if the fight came off i think Mayweather dominates him.

based on that he beat margarito? a cheater when he wasn't cheating. and i suppose he just gets a pass from you on the fact that cotto beat him.
he never faught floyd or pacquiao and he lost to cotto, but you've seen enough to annoint shane as the best welter.
tell your boy to go fight clottey, wait for floyd to fight the winner of pac vs cotto, and then he can fight the winner of that, provided he beats clottey.

kcd, you realise paul williams is no longer a welter and never will be again. but hey you still got memories.
and eliquieros still giving margarito credit as if he were ligit.

I think Mosley though Cotto was more fragile than he actually was, and expected to just bomb him out early. When he started clapping Cotto hard, there was no effect. Then Mosley had to start to mix it up, and he hadn't prepared for a 12-rounder.

    But yes.
