There is some un-baffle-a-tion for you. (Mosley still has a chance.)

 

Cotto beat him at welterweight though, and it wasn't a lifetime ago. How do you square that with saying he is best ww out there?

 

Because he beat the man who utterly DESTROYED the man?:deal

 

Why does that mean he is a better fighter than Cotto, Pacquiao or Mayweather though?

 

Technically it doesn't, but...

-- It means that Mayweather isn't ranked at pure WW per se but at P4P (no strap).
-- Pacquiao isn't available, but won at a catch weight (and defended against Clottey who looked like complete trash).
-- Post Mosley Cotto was destroyed, twice, so is therefore in a "possibly shot wait to evaluate" state.
-- Berto injured and deserves a shout for his strap, but no one believes he is on this level.
-- Clottey needs some Pepto.

So that leaves... Mosley as the best clearly ranked fighter at WW.
