Enjoyed that, thanks. He threw bombs for a little guy, didn't he? He puts all his weight into every punch, though like all good swarmers he uses a lot of head movement on his way in. He reminds me of Joe Frazier. Wonder how he would have done against Pep? I love the artistry of a boxer like Pep, but I don't know if he could have stood up to Armstrong. Would be very interesting to see wouldn't it?

The ULTIMATE clash of styles... the ATG master boxer, Pep vs the ATG master swarmer, Armstrong.

definitly i really find it hard to predict and im a huge Pep fan

    :yep

I really like armstrong, i liked his attitude and style. His non stop attack was amazing and technically he aint half bad.

i like the way he runs in and out of his corner at start and end of rounds

Seems like Pep would have had to frustrate the hell out of him for quite a few rounds before Armstrong lost anything on his punches. I'm partial to "boxers", but this is a dangerous matchup for Pep.

of course Pep has to stay focussed as Armstrong will be on him all night. I think Peps best bet is too let Armstrong pressure and come forward but give him nothing to pressure by using lateral movement. But the maount of moveemnt and countering Pep would have to do to off set Armstong would be amazing and im not sure any human could keep that focus

What impressed me most about those clips was just how savvy Armstrong was on the inside. Really knew how to work in the trenches in order to give his opponent a limited amount of room to work with, while giving himself the best angles to deliver his punches. And his rather insane head and upper body movement enabled him to avoid punches very well for someone who was that damned agressive.

    Scary stuff

The sweet science of Henry Armstrong...Watch how he attacks on an opponent's left side, crowding that opponent's jab and hook, forcing a defensive posture with his pressure.
Educated pressure!!! By pressuring the left side of another boxer he didn't have to face the opponent (often larger) straight on...this enabled him to impose his strength against stronger fighters, also he would get leverage and push from getting lower than his opponent...and being on the left side positioned him away from right hand counters.
Bottom line...if you don't have a good reverse gear, you are screwed against Armstrong!
Armstrong is hell on anybody... a terror to fight with.
Dunno about calling him 'lovely' though.
    Addendum: Great tribute clips!!!
