Yes the schooling was epic and yes he had Wilder on the canvas like a yo-yo but let's not christen him an ATG puncher. I think it was more to do with Wilder's chin or lack thereof. I'd say Wilder has perhaps a Shavers level chin. I don't think it'd take an ATG puncher to do what Fury did and as a side note, yes I think Max Baer would KO Wilder.

He's not an atg puncher but he is an atg fighter imo.

He isn't an ATG puncher but being an ATG puncher is overrated anyway. The most important thing in boxing is to hit your opponent while not getting hit. Fury is a master at just that. Fury's power is much better than it was, moving to Sugar Hill as a trainer has clearly helped him.

For the record David Haye believes Wilder is the hardest hitter in HW history

    I agree.

When you factor in the number of times Wilder got hit, Fury's excellent delivery, Wilder's likely sub par chin, and the fact that it was a a corner stoppage, that is enough to explain the result.

Of course, it is like saying he is an ATG or that it is "too early" to say that.
One fight against a guy who had dubious oppositon & chin does not show him to be either one.
And there is no other evidence that he is that good.

But there is evidence that he is an excellent boxer with decent power.
He is very skilled & has improved now.
But it is too extreme to say he is among the very best few ever.

No, I didn't think ATG puncher but neither did I think that Wilder showed a weak chin. When a 273 lbs man puts his body behind his punches they are going to hurt, even if he doesn't have exceptional mechanics or explosiveness. And Fury hit Wilder with quite a few, to the body and head, as well as mauling him to exhaustion.

Since the time when the towel FINALLY came in, till pretty much this morning, I haven't paid any attention to any boxing media, so as to do my best to at least get together what I thought I saw and therefore not to have that influenced by what other people think they saw or interpretations of what the fighters will try to tell us, as post fight statements aren't always of the sort that would be admissible/stand up in courts of law. Someone before me has already said that a man of Tyson Fury's size is going to be able to hurt you no matter what. That's pretty much the truth of it and the fact that he was getting clean free shots for the vast majority of this fight is definitely going to show all over that man's face. Which it did. OH sweet lawd Jebus, did it ever show! For real though, how often do you see a man bleeding out of his ear canal in a professional boxing match? That's one of the more rare, less commonly seen injuries. I have been trying to reconcile what my reasoning would be that Fury was unable to actually stop/KO Deontay though, because a dude his size being allowed to tee off for that long woulda been expected to do so by most, especially considering just how bashed up Wilder was at the end of the fight. Did TF just kind of blow his load in those middle rounds there on account of said teeing off, and maybe that would be coupled with the 20 extra pounds he came into the fight with? At the moment I kinda think that may be the most likely reason that he didn't get the stoppage that looked to be imminent. I know most people dislike Wilder here, and I'm not a giant fan by any stretch of the imagination, although I do enjoy watching him knock people out, regardless of what they do in their day job, but I think it's a fairly good-sized disservice to completely just rule out that one of the reasons he didn't get the stoppage was that Deontay was seemingly willing to take that lynch...er, a$s beating like a man, and that's that. I kind of think it was a pretty big risk, Fury coming in that heavy though, especially considering that he may very well have been pretty winded by the time we were in eighth round or so, because, if Deontay actually had, maybe even just rudimentary technical defensive skills of some sort, other than just banking on his right hand scaring opponents into not attacking him, he could've possibly kept himself in the fight, and being in the fight in the 10th round could've worked out very well for him and not very well for Fury. But alas, if wishes were fishes, the world would be an ocean, and Tyson Fury may not have been perfect for 36 minutes the other night but he was perfect for the minutes he needed to be

Didn’t Haye knock out wilder in sparring? Or knock down? Also Haye didn’t really fight a who’s who of hitters to say that.

Subpar chin ? Are you stoned ?

Wilder took Furys best shots and was not counted out......would he eventually get stopped sure but at the time of the towel he still wanted to continue.......no matter what ,275 [pound of skilled fighter laying full leveraged shots at you is a test of a chin .....

Holyfield went face down out after a beating,,,,,but but he knocked down Bowe too.....yeah still face down.......Liston rolled around after a Phantom punch or quit on his stool to avoid getting starched......and those two are so called "iron chin" fighters.........Foreman did not win ONE round against a old Ali and was counted out.....remember Fraziers ping pong dance........they all must be "sub par"

Wilderes chin and fighting will are fine.......he lacks other skills but those two he does not lack.

Same! I've said it for ages though. Baer does EVERYTHING better. Aside from straight punches.

    Still the fanboy, I see.

Wallin took the best after 12 rounds that Wilder couldn't... Actually everyone has took Fury's best shots and wasn't counted out... Tell me who Fury counted out, don't worry. I'll wait.

Wilder was dropped, twice, and stopped by the lightest puncher in the top 10. He was left drooling by a completely untested puncher in Ortiz. Dropped by Sconiers. Rocked to his core by Molina, Duhaupas and Breazeale.

Wilder's chin is less than subpar. It's glass.
