I think people on ESB are yet again underrating Hatton & overrating Pacquiao.

Credit to Manny for even thinking about fighting Hatton at 140, we need more true warriors like him but c`mon, he`s gonna get his ass slapped big time.

Hatton will be too much for him & could very well TKO or KO him.

    :thumbsup

Hatton pre-Floyd I would've said absolutely 100% yes he would flatten Pac, and I don't think he would've been able to KO hatton, who still has a good chin post-Floyd (in the Lazcano fight his face was his first line of defence).

But whether it was the nerves coming back after the first loss, fighting back at home, Lazcano being in good form or, gasp, Ricky starting to wane (spelling?) that affected his performance against Lazza, no one can be sure until we see him fight again. Floyd may have broken something in his psyche that night, a la Calzaghe and Lacy. I think Ricky has the mettle to get the winners mentality back though. Sure hope so, as I like him as a boxer and a person.

I'll ride with Hatton on this one.
Size is on his side here for sure.

Whilst Pac was impressive in dismantling Diaz - Hatton would be a totally different proposition altogether.

I think it would be an interesting affair, from which Ricky would emerge victorious, but it wouldn't surprise me if he needed to get off the canvas to do so.

Neither guy will have to go looking for the other - so the key is probably whether or not Hatton can get off his mid-range punches (which Cortez didn't allow) and the short ones to the body (which Floyd defended against superbly). If he can do this I think he will be inflicting more damage than what Pac will inflict on him.

People forget that given Hatton's style, his chin is exceptional. Not all that great in the grand scheme of things - but not many guys with as bad a defence and a liking for blocking punches with cheekbones get as far as he has :rofl

I pity the fool who gets Cortez reffing their match. The man is slowly losing his marbles.

I wouldn't let it worry you in this instance.

There is no way Hatton or Billy Graham would allow a fight to go ahead with Cortez the third man in the middle.

I watched the fight again last night, and he was really inconsistent - sometimes he was letting the action go and other times he was jumping straight in, almost getting caught himself in the process :rofl

Warning Hatton for holding was shocking - I would reckon 80% (at least) of the holding was by Mayweather!

To be fair, I was dropping off during the Klitschko fight, so was hoping for Cortez to DQ someone for a bizarre reason :patsch

:pc When I Saw Cortez was going to be the ref for the Wlad Fight.
Just the sight of "Fair But Senile" Cortez in a championship match....

Hatton will if Pac fights him this year. But if Pac fights him next year, Pac may have a chance depending on his status in the Lightweight division by then.

i will reserve my judgement until Hatton fights again. his performance will tell us if Pac has a chance or not. Pac will only get a chance to beat Hatton if Hatton is already on the decline.

I pretty sure Pac gives Hatton a far worse beating than did Mayweather.
I pick Pac on this one.

Pac would experience that his speed would look faenomenal against Hatton. Actually people would mostly likely stop talking about Pac as one-dimensional after this fight. That is my prediction - let's come back and see after the fight.

Fighters that go up often find that they actually compete far better than expected because they bring a speed advantage with them. I think Pac would win and Hatton's best chance is to tie up Hatton constantly - somewhat like Hopkins tried against Calzaghe and like he did himself against Kostya. In England this is Hatton's chance and he may get a win there, but objectively it will probably be a narrow Pac win and if Hatton tried to fight it out Pac will look more like Mayweather than the Pac from Pac-Barrera etc. because of his bigger speed advantage. NB... some irony and humour included in this post of course.. Pac will not look like Floyd because they have very different styles, but he will seem much faster and that will alow him to do some things that wil make him seem far more multidimensional.
