I'm not actually going to argue here. I am just going to keep one eye on the game, one on the thread and enjoy.

floyd is a great fighter, he would be a top 5 ranked fighter in any era in any weight class from 130 to 147. i don't think he'd be the man, but most certainly top ranked.

It's threads like these that are ruining this forum. And no, I'm not talking about Fitz's overzealous post. I'm talking about an alleged respected poster stooping to low brow tactics. Every reasonable poster knows that Fitz overrates Floyd. Calling him out like this is pathetic and childish. There are plenty of posters like Fitz that spend their time here completely overrating or bashing a fighter. Making threads like this serves no purpose. The backlash against Mayweather and his fans on this board is at an absurdly high level. Sophomoric threads like this one will only lead to this board continuing to be flooded with hateful rhetoric. This isn't high school people.

    My favorite part of it:

"Those guys back in the day - though many were defensive ... its more apparent now than back then. Floyd would put a strong emphasis on not getting hit and mixing up his attack against Robinson ... Robinson has never seen a fighter who lands effective punches and doesn't just go in there trying to take his head off."

    :patsch

I don't find this thread particularly useful either, but there's a big difference between "overrating" a favorite boxer, and spewing complete garbage that reflects no understanding of either the sport or it's history. At least guys like PacD bring a level of humor and absurdity to the things they are saying. Some of these people you are grouping into the category "Mayweather fans" don't have a clue about the fights and fighters they are referencing, but expect to be taken seriously. That my friend, is beyond sophomoric. It's utterly ignorant and deserves to be ridiculed.

I'll take a shot. Tell me exactly how Floyd Mayweather would beat Mike McCallum at 154. And Hearns at the same weight.

I'm not just a Mayweather fan ... I'm a fan of boxing ... Floyd's not my favorite boxer ever ... Tito is, but as far as skill, ability, and overall boxing mind - I give Floyd the edge over any fighter today or yesterday.

I never seen a fighter make adjustments so fast, think so quickly, focus on more than one skill set, so illusive, so graceful, w/ great defense, speed, agility, crisp compact punches, economic with his punches, never wastes punches, in consistant shape, never overlooking an opponent, approaches every fight w/ the mindset to win and to win convincingly, the ability to pivot and switch angles ...

There are a ton of complete morons on this board that don't know much about the sport and aren't Mayweather fans, many can't stand him. If I spent my time making threads that call out all these people, this board would be flooded. However, I find that to be completely pointless. If I determine that a poster doesn't know what the hell he's talking about or is simply trying to start ****, I don't even bother responding to them.
