Wilder picked up his WBC HW champ belt 3 1/2 years ago.

He has fought what is recognised as a legit threat ONCE in that time.

Just how much longer will Wilder and the WBC avoid another relevant test? (If indeed, you consider Ortiz to have been a truly meaningful defence against top-tier opposition, I believe the jury is still out on that one.)

What follows is a list of relevant HW contenders for the WBC title:

AJ, Parker, Whyte, H.Fury, T.Fury, Miller, Chisora, Povetkin (borderline relevant)

Let's clear it up and give the WBC and Deontay an acceptable target to have boxed just ONE of these deserving fighters.

Just like to point out that he has NEVER faced a legit thread. Ortiz is officially over 40, probably over 50, on blood pressure medicine, and in such poor health that he was only cleared to fight the day before the fight.

Wilder only wants to fight cripples.

Wilder's next fight will be Chisora. Book it. How do I know?

Barely six foot, only a bit above average puncher, little defense or boxing skill, sometimes out of shape, beaten 8 times, and yet, could just be perceived as credible because of the Takam win.

    Made for the man.

I'd actually give him props for fighting Chisora, it'd be the 2nd best name on his resume by a country mile and give him a similar opponent to other potential opponents in the top ten.

Still pish for a 4+ year reigning WBC champ though...

Hell, id just be happy if the WBC actually enforced a mandatory. I don't know whats a bigger joke, Wilders title reign, or its engineering by the WBC.

He managed to go 5 voluntary defences without fighting a top 10 opponent...that really takes some doing.

Ive gone for 18 months cuz there isnt an option for longer other than the one that claims im happy that Wilder beats them all. Im sure Stephanie and her cronies will be in here saying loads of big names Wilder claims he wants to fight but hes not actually fought any of them yet and i cant see that changing based on his career so far. No unbeaten knock out artist world champion should have a 40 fight resume as bad as his, and those that have had one that bad before have always been found out and exposed eventually.

By defeating Luis Ortis, Wilder has proven that he is unbeatable by any man who has ever lived.

When deontay fights, it is a gift to the fans and I am just thankful for the opportunity to see a master at work, whenever he should choose to permit.

Ortiz was officially 38 when he fought Wilder and is 39 now, which is the same age Povetkin is going to be fighting Joshua.

We all know that man is not a damned day under 45 years of age.

Doesn't take away from the fact that officially he is 39, which is different from catchwtboxing's claim.
Also, Luis Ortiz competed in Russia in the amateurs in 2005, listed as 26.

Apologies, but he is still a very sick man and the point still stands.

It is really pathetic. Wilder is actually chasing guys that he feels are medically unfit to fight--Stivern, Arreola, Ortiz, and now Fury. He is going to be in for a surprise.

Well you're exaggerating but Ortiz has been undefeated since his pro debut in 1877 so Wilder's win is quite meaningful.

Thought I'd bump this again, with Hughie Fury most likely picking up a 'strap' soon, how long will we give team Wilder a pass for ducking the whole UK?

No fights for T Fury, H Fury, Whyte, AJ or Chisora.

Is it possible to duck a whole nation????
