Let's put an end to "21st century" heavyweight size obsession.

    In the 30s there was a boxer called Primo Carnera 6' 5.5" and looked every bit as big as todays big heavyweights (he even looks like Wlad a bit), yet he was clobbered by a tiny Max Baer. Throughout all of history there have been big heavyweights 6' 5" and above that got beat down by small heavies. What's the difference these days? in the early 2ks the heavyweight division was at it's all time worst. ABSOLUTE WORST. That's how someone as mediocre and one dimensional as Wlad or Vit could become champions, in the that same era someone like Primo would have been a dominating champion. But times are different once again. Like everything in life, the HW division happens in cycles. The HWs are again showing promise and great fighters that are below 6'5" are making a comeback.

    The absolute best fighters on the rise below 6'5" are the following
    1. Luis Ortiz 6'4 - the absolute best fighter right now, the complete package, and age has nothing on him for at least another 6 years.
    2. Oscar Rivas 6' - no one talks about him on this board but I believe him to be a future world champion, an absolute monster.
    3. Joseph Parker 6'4 - very good fighter.
    4. Izuagbe Ugonoh 6'3 - incredible prospect.
    5. George Arias 6' - still very early at 4 fights but very promising, very fast hands and good power.
    6. Trey Lippe Morrison 6'2 - if he fights anything like his dad, we have a very strong entry in the HW division that may be champ one day, now trained by Freddie Roach.

    And I am sure there are others coming up that I have not mentioned. It's not the size of the fighter it's the size of the fight in the fighter.... that's how in the old days guys that were 6' or even in Mike Tyson's case 5'11 beat up much taller fighters. If a prime Mike Tyson was around in the early 2 ks, we would have never even have heard of Wladimir or Vit. Mike would have demolished them. :twisted:

    I suppose its only a coincidence that the HW division has been dominated by 6'4+ 240lbs+ fighters for the past 20 years?

    Lol show me the stats? and show me stats of as I said in the OG post 6'5 and above. I didn't say anything about weight

    Show me dominating HWs 6'5 and up for the last 20 years, other than Lewis, who was an ATG! and Wlad and Vit who were mediocre bums.

    Lewis, Vitali and Wlad dominated the division.

    Now 6'9 Fury is the Champ, with 6'7 Wilder holding the other strap.

    Bowe started the new generation of SHW if you ask me

    The best HW today are at least 6'4", how can you say anything other than that. What and when was the last hw under 6'4" a truly top tier hw ?

    And every 6' and under hw of any generation would be annihilated by all of the best HW today. The real top 3 hw are, imho which cannot be swayed in the least without it being proven by it actually happening are,
    DW
    AJ
    Ortiz.

    Those 3 hw are the absolute best today and would be h2h rivals along side LL.. no other heavys ever could compete h2h with those 4. LL belongs with them which says everything that needs to be said, because LL is the Gretest h2h hw ever.

    Those other 3 will follow him. They cannot be as dominate, due to being rivals of each other. Those 4 can beat each other on any given night. No other hw could say the same.

    How many Champions under 6'5 has there been in the "21 Century"? WTF Wlad has been Champion for the last 11 years since and now Tyson Fury. Lennox Lewis was Champion until he retired in 2003. And I mean real World Champion, not some lousy title holder like Ruiz.

    Super Heavyweights have gotten bigger since the division was made in 1984. Tyrell Bigs was 220 lbs. He'd be considered small in today's division.

    I think HWs have gotten even bigger since Lewis.

    Joseph Parker weighed 237.6 lbs against Martz. Anthony Joshua weighed 245 lbs against Whyte.

    Primo Carnera had gigantism and his career was as manufactured as Wilder's. He was a kind man but a bit of a freakshow.

    As for the "best" fighters on the rise being below 6'5, you have:

    Ortiz- a 36 year old roid abuser. Should be banned from boxing
    Rivas- no indication that he will be anything special
    Parker- No argument about his ability, 6/6 Joshua has leaped ahead
    Uganoh- average at best
    Arias- yeah, four fights
    Lippe- more of a bum and a joke than his dad

    I think there is still a place for smaller heavies, but man, you have sure not proved it here.

    The future of boxing is:

    Fury 6'9 and 27
    H. Fury 6'6 and 22
    Joshua 6'6 and 26

    Wilder and Helenius are goign to be around a long time to, with Granate and Wallin on deck.

    This. Luis Ortiz stopped two guys Fury and Wlad couldn't. Zack Page, who is smaller than Joe Louis went the distance with Fury, Pulev, and McBride. Page was also almost 40 when he fought against Fury. Wlad in his prime was stopped three times and all by smaller fighters. Two of those fighters were much older and well beyond their best fighting years.
