But Luigi, aren't you a bit negative about Liston? I mean I enjoy reading your posts, but when it comes to Liston, you don't really compliment the guy,and you always say he is over-rated.

I am not claiming that he hit harder than Liston. He probably did not in a literal sense.

I am claiming that his chin is more proven. I also think that he was a better finisher.

No, I rate him pretty high in my personal HW- ATG-list, but when someone says that Langford isn´t a good puncher or so, and Liston was such a dangerous puncher, like Senya13 did, and I also think that Liston was a great puncher, but in general, when I read here some comments about Sonny (some have him at 2nd or 3rd best HW ever) I just think he´s a bit overrated, head-to-head and legacy-wise, he´s a typical "what could have been, etc."- type of fighter, it´s nothing personal, I created some weeks ago a thread about him, why I think he´s a bit overrated and I gave my arguments, it´s nothing against Sonny personal, but perhaps you´re right, and I sounded in the past a bit too harsh on him and I myself didn´t notice it... :thumbsup

I didn't say Langford wasn't a great puncher. Same as I didn't even compare finishing abilities of Langford and Liston, I compred Wills and McVea's finishing abilities with Liston's.

Liston probably was a better finisher than those two but McVea particularly was no slouch.

Based on fight reports I've seen on McVea I'm not overly impressed with his boxing abilities.

I dont think that he was in any way a master boxer but he had a wicked left hook that he could pump in fluries and could be sly.
