    Be fair.

That was 1984. Follow that gif up with Hearns getting blasted out by Barkley in 1988 and then let's see Duran knocking that same Barkley down in Barkley's next fight.

You can entitle it "vicarious revenge."

are we gunna trade blunt, posing to be insightful one liners all night..or are we gunna throw down up on this ***** like two real mother ****ers who gotz mouths to feed?

Duran's win over Barkley is more significant if thats your kind of porn, on an emotional level for his legions of fans. But Hearns win over Hill was against a much better fighter, a much more accomplished fighter, and at several weight classes higher than Duran's jump was. And yet Duran's win is deemed the more significant and by far more celebrated.

Is that me speaking with authority or just stating facts?

What do you mean by that?

He went to 175 from 147 as to Duran's 135-160.

Both seem pretty good accomplishments if you ask me!

Hearns Hill is more comparable to Duran Moore i'd say, from the perspective of how long each guy had been active for and how far past prime they were.

    That's more like it.

It is neither. It is your opinion.

The first post that I put on this thread was to illuminate some details about the aftermath of that fight that you cannot bring yourself to acknowledge. It is interesting that Duran's KO to Hearns was followed by Hearns' getting KOd by Barkley who decided that it was his "mission to destroy these legends," then ran headlong into Duran... and lost.

Duran defeated the man who demolished the man who demolished Duran.
...If you find nothing in that, then you are as silly as those you condemn.

    PS/
I am a Hearns fan who watched the Hill win with enthusiasm. I care nothing for a worthless debate about which was "better."

Yes its my opinion, is it not yours? I dont think we could find many people that believe Barkley to be better than Hill.

Well when you bring that up in this context, what i find in that is someone being conveniently pro-boxing math for this one and only instance, to setup an excuse for the demolition he suffered. He must've not trained and had cramp, otherwise it wouldnt have gone down like that, because he beat the man who demolished the man who shouldnt have been able to demolished himself, perhaps? Or what else would i find in that, other than a trivial fact??

    PS/
I understand you not wanting to debate with me its daunting, I am a top 5 P4P poster. Maybe you could put up a good show as the underdog and receive a ton of credit most posters wont gain in a lifetime, comparable to the Hagler loss:rasta

I remember it well. A snowy winter evening February 24th, 1989. I was going to community college and living right next to Atlantic City where the fight took place in a town called Ventnor. I ordered the pay per view for a mere $14.95 and my friends kept saying Duran is too old, Duran is too old, etc. Ray Mercer made his pro debut against a guy named Jesse "the Tank" McGee. Gil Clancy commented that he looked like he could have been a noseguard for the Jets or the Giants. Michael Carbajol also made his pro debut on that card.

The fight itself was one for the ages and Duran's last vintage performance. Although Gil Clancy was openly rooting for Duran and seemed to kind of embarrass the impartial Al Bernstein, it did not sully what was an unforgetable fight. In my opinion it could could have went either way. The 12th round was very close but RD clearly won the 9th-11th rounds. The knockdown of Barkley in the 11th nicked it for Duran by the slimest of margins. One ******* judge had it 118-110 for Duran which was outrageous and a slap in the face to Iran Barkley. The judge that had it 115-113 for Duran was on the money.

We can't bust heads like we used to. But we have our ways. One trick is to tell stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for m'shoe. So I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt. Which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Now where was I... oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
