I'm saying their opposition is ****. Therefore, all of what you said is true under those conditions. They are indeed the best of a terrible era and they can exploit that to the fullest. Thanks for seeing it for what it is. :thumbsup
I was very obviously talking about a Prime Lennox Lewis. That's a fighter who would destroy Wlad in a very short fight. He wouldn't give Wald the time to establish anything. He'd rough Wladimir up and tag him with some hard shots. And we can agree that Sam Peter is nothing compared to Lewis. A pre-retirement version of Vitali Klitschko would have stopped Wladimir too if they didn't share the same bloodline. Though I can understand them never fighting each other as brothers. I respect that.
What a sad, loser response :verysad The 70s era was **** compared to 90s to date. Other than your bigoted beliefs why is this era so weak? Just b/c you say so? Because you feel insecure about who the champs are Why do you need to feel validated based on what some other man does in the ring - if you identify w/that fighter. You weren't Ali or Tyson and you're not Wlad or Vitali or Sam either - not by a mile :thumbsup
Who said anything about skin color? Look at my posts more carefully. I consider Vitali to be a far better fighter than Wlad and he stomped Peter out more impressively considering the circumstances. Wlad beats heavily shopworn fighters, bums, and green prospects who have a protected "0" the majority of the time (I could make a list of his wins since 2004 and break it down). People like you expect others to worship him for doing so in a very tentative and literally scared way, while his brother goes out there and shows how its done. Based on your pathetic response with nothing to back it up, you just hate the fact that Wlad isn't being worshiped just because of his skin color. Check yourself. Who needs validation again? Validation for what? I just tell it like it is. You obviously orgasmed over watching Wlad beat a never was, just because he was a black African. Must be one of those little bitches who goes around worshiping the "Epic beard man" as his hero too. :rofl:rofl You couldn't even hold a tomato can's jock, son. Go find your friends on here to back you up, racist. Farmboxer and bretchko should be somewhere in your circle jerk. Leave the real discussion to those of us who don't have a racial agenda.
And this is part of the problem. Once it becomes less about SOLELY how much damage a W. Klit opponent can take, then we'll be getting somewhere. Because until W. Klit fights a guy who has us wondering how much damage HE can take, then we'll have a fight worth some entertainment. HBO dont want to put on mismatches. Especially when they're so boring. That costs the networks money. We havent seen this guy in there with someone who can give as much as he gets. W.Klit folds in the rare cases when the opponent can land shot"S" too. He revels in hitting opponents with no chance of landing back consistently. That's why he excessively holds so much even against slow and unskilled opponents. Hey, the name of the game is "hit and not get hit", so it is what it is. Wlad knows how to do that against this division. The Heavyweight division didn't grow with the times. That is why the talent pool isn't what it should be today compared to back when being the Heavyweight champion was perhaps THE highest paid spot in sports. Team salaries and contracts changed all that. Now we got guys like Peter, Cris Arreola, Old Holyfield's, farces like Valuev, and blown up cruiserweights like Haye getting belts, title shots, and making up the Top 10. Its just the truth.
he would have been just like today just an average fighter. with a hard punch and a good chin. However there were a lot of average fighters then as well. If you take Peter out of this era and his training strength etc he may have been a competitor for the title back in the 60's after all he is 240 lbs George foreman was considered huge back then and he was 225 and 6'3". He wasn't that athletic.
Some of you people actually look at the past as the magnificent era of boxing. Well I was there. Ali got hit a lot he could take a punch Foreman was big and strong but stupid. frazier was tough minded but only 5'11" 205 at the most. He actually only had one arm. ken Norton was the most athletic and ali couldn't beat him and Norton isn't the athlete tthat Vlad klitschko is. There are some athletes out there they do not have to be from the US they can be from Europe. Africa, Asia, and South America.
To say that Vitali is a far better fighter than Vlad is probalby not accurate. he is a good fighter and he could be better We will never know. I will say this from what i have read and from people that have sparred with a bunch of them, have said that Vlad is faster and stronger than vitali and lennox lewis, he hits harder than both. Right now he is very difficult to hit so is his brother and lennox was as well. We will never know and it is just speculation.
I'm pretty old myself for this forum's standards too. When we look to the past, we can see that Ali was 6'3 and 220lbs or so. That was considered BIG back then in the 70's. Foreman was considered a monster in terms of size in that era too. The key is, nowadays, most heavyweights haven't grown with the times in terms of relativity. If an Ali was born and came up in this era as a fighter, he'd be several inches taller and weigh a lot more, while STILL retaining all of his boxing skills and coordination. Though no one will have his charisma again, in terms of ability this modern "Ali" I'm referring to is playing in the NBA or overseas basketball. That modern "Frazier" or "Foreman" is playing in the NFL. That modern "Joe Louis" or Dempsey is also playing in the NFL. W.Klit and perhaps his brother are lucky that Lennox Lewis was on the tail end of his career when they came knocking for the reigns. In his prime, he's all wrong for Wlad, but him and 2003 Vitaly would be a great scrap. That fight would be better than a 37 yr old Lewis's TKO6 stoppage over V.Klit. These guys haven't been in with a guy with size, skill, and conditioning. V.Klit versus old Lewis is the closest either of them has seen of that kind of fight. When the brothers retire, this division will be deplorable to watch. Wait and see. The brothers are the only ones left who care about their conditioning. That is also why they feast on what's left out there. Props to 'em for caring about how they show up.
